Things Nintendo Should Do Soon But Won't Because They Don't Need To

ResumePlay's Michael Perry writes: "Everyone knows that Nintendo is winning this competition (in shear numbers) but those seem to be dropping off in the last couple of months. I'm hear to propose a list of things they should do that would help build their numbers up and start appealing to the hardcore crowd again. Now before you start to bombard me with hateful comments, all this article is is a wish list of things that I (myself, me, not the other staff members) would want to see Nintendo do so I have a reason to turn it on again, but I also understand that Nintendo cannot find the computer that they once used to develop hardcore games on because it's blocked by the wall of money in their offices."

These would certainly help the sales out. While I think the friends list and achievements would be nice...it almost seems like copying off of the other consoles.

Not totally copying...but I don't know...I would like to see the Wii start appealing to hardcore gamers and staying as unique as possible.

Who knows? While I'm not a big fan of the Wii...it's very obvious other people are. It's a great system for most, just not for me. =/

"These would certainly help the sales out. While I think the friends list and achievements would be nice...it almost seems like copying off of the other consoles."

Exactly, and why would nintendo copy 2 consoles that have less than half the sales. So yes copying is out of the question.

Seems like online isnt really a selling point when you think of it like that.

While Sony and Microsoft may have half the sales of the Nintendo, they still are dominating it in terms of their systems capabilities. Nintendo should copy, cause they don't have squat for games, their graphics are really subpar, and thier online is a joke. The only reason they have the sales is because the the cheap pricetag. The projected right, when they released the cheapest console during a recession period. Now that all the people who wanted a cheap diverson have a wii, who is gonna buy it, not the hardcore gamers thats for sure!

"Nintendo is lagging behind"

Yeh im sure they are really affected by it. Mario kart wii works a treat (online) btw. I have cable (the highest speed in aus too) that plugs directly into the back of my ps3, and yet my ps3 online lags ALOT. Yet mario kart hardly ever does....and thats runnig it off a wifi adapter from my computer because you cannot get a direct cable link into the wii.

"While Sony and Microsoft may have half the sales of the Nintendo, they still are dominating it in terms of their systems capabilities. "

So what about PC's ?? Dont have they have superior online and graphics. I mean seriously if you wanna go that root consoles are crap for FPS's and RTS's. World of Warcraft dominates anything really. Plus the gamecube and original xbox pawned the ps2 in graphics yet ppl never complained about the ps2 limits(even tho xbox had all the superior FPS's is still never sold compared to the ps2)

"Nintendo should copy, cause they don't have squat for games, their graphics are really subpar, and thier online is a joke. "

Actually its usually everyone else copying nintendo. Look back thru history. Even recent history. They dont have squat for games? People are still using this lame ass excuse? It is now officially flawed BEYOND belief. I know most of you will go to the grave complaining about some myth that you heard from your mates friends brother, and really i doubt most of you have even played enough of the wii to even know. Again i say "most" and not "all"

"The only reason they have the sales is because the the cheap pricetag. "

Even tho the xbox 360 has a lower price tag>? And once upon a time the gamecube sold for $99 australian ($50) US which was more powerful than the ps2 but didnt play dvd's...which is the MAIN reason people bought the ps2. Plus games like singstar, eyetoy buzz, and dance dance/guitar hero helped ALOT. Tell me are those casual or hardcore u guys keep changing your mind about which is which.

"The projected right, when they released the cheapest console during a recession period."

LOL so the US had been in recession since 2006?? Didnt that offically start last year? It wasnt even heard of before 2008 and still sold more without the recession.

"Now that all the people who wanted a cheap diverson have a wii, who is gonna buy it, not the hardcore gamers thats for sure!"

This and the rest of what you said is a joke of a comment.

I know a really good thing Nintendo should do but won't... listen to their fans more. Sometimes I just look at something they implement and think "Really, Nintendo? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?".

but I find editing mistakes in the first paragraph of a so-called professional article unacceptable.

mau645339d ago

Sorry about that... Nobody is perfect, and who said we were professional?

brandynevils5339d ago

The edit was fixed in the original, but thanks to loyal readers/fans leaving comments and getting this approved so quickly, I didn't have time to fix the submission paragraph.. my condolences for causing you so much grief in the very first paragraph- that's not usually how I roll, if you will.

in Canada, the price of the Wii is $279.99 while PS3 and 360 are $299.99. $20 difference. Everyone who purchases a Wii at this point is retarded.

ChickeyCantor5339d ago

"Everyone who purchases a Wii at this point is retarded."

So if someone wants chocolate over a cookie that is 20 cents less expensive, that person is retarded?

Point being, its a personal taste, so what if someone picks a Wii over a Ps3 or 360, its their choice. Some people actually love wii-sports more than your killzone... shocking isn't it.

But i guess this is N4G, we can all go around calling other people retarded, and you yourself are so intelligently bright.

phantomexe5339d ago

i enjoyed the conduit more then i enjoyed killzone 2.Something about useing the pointer just feels right.I own both games.

Namely the online bit. I dare you to compare the reliability of COD: WaW wii to Modern warfare on PS3. I am betting 50 bucks that the wii gets a game going much much faster. Mario kart wii is very quick to find new matches and rarely if ever do those races lag or drop out.

Wii online is pretty reliable there is no reason to make up lies about it. The problem with wii online is it is bare essentialls to online without any of the add ons and goodies of XBox Live or even the ps3's service. Yeah it does provide a level of anominity but the online is not nearly as bad as this author makes it sound.

I mean I agree with majority of these options. Trophieswould be nice. I would love an way to see what friends are playing on startup, A headset would be great (c'monj wii has bluetooth why is there no solid white wii Bluetool headset yet?!?), VC portability is also a no brainer. But your comments on wii online just says to me that you have a bad web connection not that the online sucks.

Strange headline, as I thought the star of the show was Super RType. I almost bought RType Dimensions EX this last month and was just thinking, man I wish we had the SNES one somewhere on Switch. That's where I got my start w the series and I was beyond excited to see it drop this week!
