No Added Sugar: Multicritic: Activision and the Great Game Robbery

No Added Sugar editors Mark and James cross swords and debate one of the most controversial stories of the year- Activision's decision to hike the prices of some of their upcoming titles. Could it actually be a good thing? Or has Bobby Kotick went too far this time? The issue might be more complicated than you think.

Bobby Kotick thinks Activision's games are soooo good, it's OK to charge a ridiculous amount of money for them. Hey, it's his company and it's they're games.... who can argue...!? (!)

We can.

So gamers think Bobby and Activision are greedy bastards, so they'll think it's OK to stop supporting an industry that's been DLC-scamming and DLC-milking them for years, and which is now demanding ridiculous prices for the newest games in a time of economic crisis and where great games are in the bargain-bins for 20-30 bucks a few months after they're released..., so those gamers will just mod their console and download Call of Duty 5, or buy a 2nd hand copy of the game.

And hey, it's their console, it's they're money, and they're right! Who can argue!?

I'm sure lots of gamers will still bend over for Bobby and pay up the ridiculous amount of money to play his latest game though... (which is a very very sad conclusion to my epic rant :( )

Personally, I'll spend my money on a bunch of other games instead. I mean, COD5 looks great, but I knew I wouldnt be able to sit down and enjoy it after being screwed so hard by Activision's ridiculous pricing.

If every gamer would just STOP supporting greedy companies like Activision, and would KEEP supporting the developers that DO care about US gamers, and about their own product, this whole gaming-industry would be a whole lot nicer for everyone (except for the greedy dirtbags like Bobby, obviously)

Special guests like Mr. Dead might also show up. You just watch.
