Sony cleaned house at the 2008 AIAS. Winning 10 Awards, 8 for PS3. Game Of The Year, Console Game of The Year, Handheld Game of The Year, Visual Arts, Graphics Technology, etc.

Gears 2 and Fable 2 won ZERO.

Forza 2 lost to MotorStorm at the 2007 AIAS awards for Best Racing Game.

If it were a true exclusive for 360 (no pc port or timed) vs a ps3 exclusive I would have to take the 360 exclusive.

Here's why. It would truly be the rarest of the two when you really think about it. PS3 exclusives are pretty much every game made by their 1st and 2nd party teams. No surprise there. MS just doesnt have the studio power sony has so whatever they get as a real exclusive is like few and far between.

Yes I am aware of fable and forza and halo but those seem to go to pc at some point. You see for MS it is all about coverage. They have the windows platform that get 90% of all 360 games eventually.

As to if it would be better...I still think so because of the rarity the exclusiveness would entail.

No offense but ps3 exclusives are a dime a dozen these days. Finding a REAL 360 exclusive is like finding a mint unopened first release of FF7. You could find it but it will cost you dearly.

For instance. As I mentioned, the regular xbox had better games. Kotor, Battlefront 2, Phantasy star Online, Conker, Morrowwind, do I need to say more?

The only good games to come out for the 360 are mostly multiplat, except for Mass Effect. Everything else could blow wither away in the wind for all I care. However, I will admit, I play most multiplats for the 360 as that is where it really shines. Its a third party machine, and Im glad cause I love xbox live.

Anyway, I play games because they'Re good, not because they're on a particular console.

When it comes to shooter, I play Halo3 and KZ2, as they both offer a different style of gameplay. Halo3 could be somewhat compared to R2, but despite the amusingly high number of people in a single game, R2 falls flat when compared to Halo 3 in multiplayer.

I also play some RPGs, I loved VC, but that didn't stop me from enjoying LO and ToV or Fable 2, and I'm looking forward to playing Magna Carta 2 and WKC.

For racers, I'd say that MS was pretty good, it's actually the game that convinced me to buy a PS3 back then, but Pure would be my favorite racer this gen, so...

So really, both platforms have a very nice set of exclusives, and anyone denying that is either stupid or delusionnal. Sorry, but it's true. Or, obsiously, they have totally different taste than me, which could also happen :) but why would you do that?

Just skimmed the article and didn't even go to IGN to check the credibility of their numbers, but I did notice a couple problems right off the bat. They counted Saints Row 1 & 2 as exclusives for the 360, when in fact Saints Row 2 also came out on the PS3. And they didn't even count Folklore on the PS3, which IGN gave a 9.0.

Original Xbox had all the great star wars games, ps2 had hardly any. Original xbox had: Knights of the Old Republic 1, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Republic Commando, and Battlefront 1 and Battlefront 2

All PS2 had was the Battlefront series and a crappy bounty hunter game, oh yea and Episode 3 the game which was ehh. That why i wanted the Xbox.

Aside from the bigger star wars selection, Xbox also had Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Jade Empire, Fable, and Halo 1 and Halo 2. I would rather have all those and the awesome multiplatform games that came with it as well than a PS2.

360 exlusives are awesome too. You say they are not exlusive since you can get them on PC as well, but for xbox 360 you dont need a 1000 dollar computer.

Why in the world would Microsoft not want to put games on both of their platforms? Games for Windows and Xbox 360 both need games. Not every game is going to be on both platforms, but many will. It just so happens that both of Microsoft's platforms are able to run similarly graphically advanced games. In essence, though, it really is no different than what Nintendo or Sony do in supplying games to all of their platforms.

But let's be honest, if as many people had gaming rigs as they claim, the PC would have game sales greater than any of the consoles. I mean, the way certain PS3 fans make it sound, we all have gaming PCs, right?

The truth is, only a relatively small percentage of console gamers also own a gaming PC. The markets are largely different and that is why when a game is on 360 and not on PS3, it can have a significant impact in terms of competitive advantage in the market.

Because Metacritic only puts up reviews they wanna put up, and game editors knowingly and purposely crap on ps3 exclusives just to lower their meta rating. Only fanboys and media care about metacritic ratings.

For instance. If you look in any game review score on meta, G4tv is one of the biggest sources for reviews, and usually has one of the first put up on metacritic.com. I've been playing my Xbox 360 exclusives more than the PS3 exclusives i've owned. Mostly Gears of War 2 and Halo 3. But games like Uncharted, MGS4 and Killzone 2 are some of my favorites aswell. Longevity-wise I would pick the Xbox 360 exclusives. But that's just me I guess.

Longevity? Sony plans a 10 year life cycle and includes bluray to ensure that as the years pass, the disk can keep up with growing development needs. Xbox will start to have more and more games multi disk. Not only that but MS has no First party devs like Sony does to produce great exclusives. MS is starting to show it is peaked where the graphics on PS3 exclusives continue to improve. I can understand why anyone would want to own both consoles, but on this topic it is a little obvious who wins.

if you are looking for true exclusives the ps3 i find is better because they are actually fully exclusive to the playstation, and never become timed exclusives. It's actually usually because "it just can't be done on a 360" as some developers have said. I have a 360 as well, so I'm not a fanboy. They both offer great games!

I'm in the same boat as you regarding exclusives. It seems with my Playstation 3 that the exclusive games which I've played stick with me through that one play through and haven't ever needed to go back through again as I only seem to play the single player and very rarely the multiplayer.

However, with the Xbox 360 exclusives I own it's kinda the reverse; I'll play the single player once (and not really care about it) but then play the online of that game a crap-tonne.

I am a PS3 gamer myself, but I agree with you on that. I primarily buy games that have online multiplayer for the simple fact that I can play it for ever. I am not one to play through a story mode more than one time. When I do want to play a single player game like Fallout 3, Uncharted (one), Bio Shock, etc. I just rent them. I am not really a trophy whore so I don't have much of a reason to own a game after I beat it unless it has multiplayer action.

IGN is the only gaming site that hasn't been biased against the ps3 since launch. I will admit, I dont exactly agree with their scores, Resistance 2 did't deserve a 9.5. But it makes up for all of the BS that happened against ps3 games around the web. Ign are doing their part, and for that I give them my respect, and most of all, my hits. BTW, I can probably name 20 ps2 exclusives that are better then gears or Halo 3. I could even name about 10 regular xbox games that are better then anything on the 360.

Dont get me wrong. Personally I think xbox live was a godsend to online gaming. Thats why I will always choose my 360 to play games like COD, Battlefield, and any other multiplat game simply because the x20 dvd drive can stream games better giving the 360 an edge when it comes frame rate, and lets not forget it does better with its anti aliasing. Metacritic chooses the scores that go up on their site, Gamespot has had issues in the past with having reviewers being paid off, GI gives terribly high review scores, and GamePro still uses the star rating system, which isnt as great as it used to be. Its a matter of preference. Every site has its flaws.

I can see the argument now. 360 exclusives usually are on PC too so they aren't exclusives. Its an old argument but to be fair its valid too.

Reality is that "most" console gamers are not PC gamers and so the argument loses a bunch of steam there. Most console gamers game on consoles because of the ease and simplicity of use.

Now ....even with all that out of the way, I would still give a slight overall edge to Sony on this. I think overall they have a better breath of catalogue titles that are quality.

I do agree with your opinion that PS3 exclusives are generally better these days-not that I don't rate the Gears game, Mass Effect or L4D as I do-it's just that I feel Killzones2, Uncharted and MGS4 are the nest console games I've played this generationm so far. I feel much of the small grapgical advantage Sony anjoy atm is down to the longer dev time most PS3 exclusives are allowed from Sony while the likes of Halo and Gears seem to get pushed out more quickly(and the Sony based games like R2 that have similar short dev times are more of a graphical par with Gears imo).

Hopefully we'll see AW and SC:C challenge the visual recent domination from PS3 exclusives as they've had the right/same amount of time to get polished properly. Graphics, however, are the ONLY comparison not entirely based on personal opinion(and even then it's part of it even if I might find the Sony advantage quite plain right now)so it's entirely a pointless article that noone could ever call definitive-not even T10 who like the word so damn much!

Why chose which console has better exclusive? If you can afford both PS3 and X360 (as many hardcore fans own multiple consoles), it doesn't matter which console has more or better exclusives. There's always one or more exclusive game on the other console that you want to play if you own only one type of console.

While looking at statistics like this is certainly entertaining, it really doesn't matter who has more titles that a specific game site said are good games. All that really matters is what system has the games that you prefer. In the end, both PS3 and 360 are great gaming systems.

3) They are generally varied, encompassing a wide range of genres (Siren, Ratchet, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, Motorstorm, Gran Turismo, inFAMOUS, White Knight Chronicles, etc).

4) They aren't afraid to take chances with risky game ideas that would be frowned upon in wider circles (Heavy Rain, Echocrome, Flower, Demon Souls, EyePet, Eye of Judgment, etc).

on the 360, the most popular games are all shooters (CoD4, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo, Gears of War, Shadow Complex).

most of them use Unreal Engine 3 (Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Shadow Complex).

most of them are 3rd party, meaning they can go to any other platform the IP owners decide.

most of them aren't pushing the 360 in the same way that the PS3 exclusives are pushing the PS3. it's capable of so much more than Gears of War 2, and yet no developer is actually ATTEMPTING to break that mold.

most of the top exclusives come to the PC, and tend to run and perform better on the PC than the 360.

i own both a PS3 and 360, but i enjoy and look forward to PS3 exclusives more often than 360 exclusives.

that's just my own personal preferences about the situation.

i'm surprised at how many games on my most wanted list for the next year are PS3 exclusives.

i'm pretty much only looking forward to Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, and Fable 3 on the 360 next year (i'm not a Halo, Gears, or Splinter Cell fan, so those franchises don't do anything for me).

on the PS3 front, i'm looking forward to Uncharted 2, Ratchet 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Demon Souls, Gran Turismo 5, Afrika (i know, but i'm actually looking forward to it), White Knight Chronicles (imported the Japanese version and loved it, can't wait for English release), Heavy Rain, FFvsXIII, The Last Guardian, DC Universe Online, God of War 3, and maybe Agent, if it's any good. all of those are slated to release in the next 6-12 months.

I never am that big of a fan on "the biggest exclusives" as this type of question is quite subjective and based on your tastes as a gamer. I have always bought games, regardless of platform. Games, like Sonic Unleashed and Burnout Paradise, are really awesome games when you sit down to play them. I would play these games whether IGN gave them a great score or not. I also wouldn't care if these games are also available on Xbox 360. Since when did another platform diminish the quality of the game that you wanna buy?

Now, granted, Exclusives can definitely be a deal breaker in deciding the console of choice. Again, they are based entirely of your tastes, and will ultimately decide which platform gets the cash.

For me, that was the PS3 for it had a more diverse library of games in genre, as well as, many of the multi-platform games I can find on other platforms. Does this mean that the PS3 is king? Well, that's entirely up to you to decide. As a gamer.

Hey, I'm deeply looking forward to Crackdown 2, that franchise is brilliant. I also think that Twisted Pixel are a great developer too. PS3's exclusives tend to be far superior technically and artistically (MGS4, Valkyria Chronicles, inFAMOUS, etc) and always bring fresh experiences to the video game industry. But many of them tend to be focused on single-player and being more of an experience than an addicting pastime.

X360 exclusives are the opposite of that. They aren't the most sophisticated games, but they do tend to provide a lot more replay value. Well-crafted online shooters like Halo 3 and Gears of War can keep people who like either competitive or social gaming engaged for months on end, and are really the only reasons to pay for Xbox Live.

heres my thing, the only games I play are ones that have online and split screen. Because I LOVE playing online and I do not like having a bored girlfriend, she gets pissy that way. Not to offend but ps3 has only ONE game that has decent split screen online exclusive and thats Resistance which I didnt even like online!!! Xbox has halo, gears, left 4 dead, army of 2 (I dunno if thats exclusive) I wont even play a game unless it has split screen because I only play at night when my girlfriend is home and we like playing together I love my ps3 but you know what PS3 LOSES this one for me you know why?

No split screen+bored girlfriend = not the best exclusive for nate.

This is to all individuals of a sound mind out there. Lets be honest, a console is only as good as the game you are playing on it. If I want to play Halo or Mass Effect I play on my Xbox. If I want to play GT5p or MGS4 or even SF4 (Got it on my ps3 because of a previous investment in two Virtua High grade sticks) I play on my ps3. If I want to play Zelda or have friends round and play Mario and Sonic Olympics I play the Wii. You've got to be one hell of a sick unsociable puppy to form an emotional connection with a piece of electronics. agree with article but i don't think it's MS fault. sony has an army of devs that they gained over the past 2 generations so they can spit out exclusives like resistance, R&C, uncharted, killzone, infamous, GOW3, GT5, heavy rain, MAG, Socom, MLB the show and more. the majority of theses devs are owned by sony and they got them by dominating the past 2 generations. MS on the other had to work against the PS2 last gen and now getting stiff competition from teh PS3 and wii so it's hard to get studios. 360 lack of exclusives when in comparison to PS3 isn't due to a lack of effort on MS's part

I now own over 100 Xbox 360 games. I've played Uncharted and Killzone 2 on PS3. I constantly talk to all the gamers in the REAL world and the fact is the big Xbox Exclusives have dominated this generation.

Fact: The biggest game on the PS3 is Grand Theft Auto 4

Fact: The biggest game on the Xbox 360 is Halo 3 (the exclusive of exclusives)

Halo 3 alone broke almost every retail record two years ago and is still played by over a million people a day online. Name another midnight game launch period that even came close to Halo 3.

In contrast, the hype for Killzone 2 in February was astonishing. But, only a half a year later the game is being sold for half it's worth as a greatest hits edition. This is NOT how you treat the greatest console FPS of our generation right? That's because beyond the pretty graphics, it really wasn't even close.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is truly a great part of the PS3 portfolio. But, the fact that the next installment will be on the 360 tells the whole story.

Uncharted is the shining beacon for the PS3 in 2009. But, I ask EVERY PS3 owner I come across if they played the first game and in almost every instance they have played or have even heard of it. Unless, they got it bundled with the system. I'll personally attest to the freaking coolness of the game, but in the end the only franchise that killed was Tomb Raider. Uncharted 2 has a tall fence to climb with the PS3 install base and to be honest, it doesnt make sense for a game of it's caliber.

On the Xbox 360 side:

We have been blessed with not only with Halo, but Gears of War. I say this all the time, I wouldn't trade ANY game on the PS3 for what it felt like to play the original Gears when it first was released. The hate that the sequel got was strictly on the internet and goes to show how silly and widespread fanboyism has become. Gears is also a retail monster. You probably won't be able to find any true Xbox gamer in 2010 with over a 40 million install base at that point that won't own Gears 3.

RPGs? I'll take the amazing experiences of Mass effect and Lost Odyssey over anything thus far on the PS3. Even, this years underrated Star Ocean 4 is a blast to play through. And I am not ashamed to say I loved the flawed but fun as hell Too Human.

People forget all of the classic exclusives we had on the 360: Condemned, Burnout Revenge remake (still my fave racer EVER on the 360), G.R.A.W., Call of Duty 2, and who can forget the freakin amazing CRACKDOWN.

But, even with all of that said, everyone has a preference, in the end the fans decide with their wallets which games are the best. And so far the big 360 exclusives are doing fine in that aspect.

I personally own both systems now and I just recently purchased a ps3. I key differences that I have noticed when playing ps3 are that everyone is a mute in online play, game loads are MUCH slower, online play lags out way to much, resistance is a cheesy ass game(oh and graffixs suck!) the absolute best thing the ps3 has going is mgs4(which 5 is also headed to xbox), a blu-ray player(which hands-down is one of the best I've seen) and Enchanted? Enchanted is merely a tomb raider game in make-up!! My suggestion to all ps3 fanboys is to pick up a 360 for around 100 bucks on craigslist and give it a shot, you shouldn't knock a system before you try it for yourself. Oh and for a wii, you must be between the ages of 4-11 or 45-70 to enjoy. The little characters and graffix make me wanna vomit!!!!

This question is totally subjective, of course you own a PS3 for its exclusives and you own a 360 also for its own exclusives. I once asked a guy here why he likes the 360 even though its riddled with hardware faults and he simply answered "i enjoyed the games so im willing to put up with those faults", which is true because ive been in lots of hobbies that are very expensive and since i was financially prepared to plunge in to those hobbies i didnt mind the expense as long as i am happy. The point is gaming is just another vice that everyone spends a lot of money just to get some sort of enjoyment. So lets just stop this flaming which console is better because no one has the right to tell you what things to enjoy in your life.

The games I have been playing the most recently are CoD: WaW, Fallout 3 and L4D(though it is a M$ exclusive). Sadly, I do not own a PS3, mainly because nothing on it has really gotten me excited about it. Never been a huge fan of MGS, Racing Games or JRPGs and I don't have a fancy TV to show of the PS3s better graphics. Either way, I feel like if I got a PS3, i would only play it for a little bit when a new game comes out, then I will go right back to Xbox Live.

I can't make a good judgment on what has better exclusives right now because I don't own a PS3, but I can say this. If you (not the reviewers, not the hype, not your fellow gamers) think a game if fun and enjoyable (not bc its better looking, not bc its part of a loved franchise) it is a better game to you. Everyone will think differently.

These things are made to be fun. To relieve stress and let you escape reality for a little bit. But then its f*cktards that start ranting "OMFG the PS3 is way better looking", "Lol, xbox fail", or "PS3 can't sell sh!t" that add so much anger and hatred into something so good. It is ri-fvcking-diculous that people get so heated about which console has a bigger electronic c0ck. Its as if both sides are the KKK and they think the other side is full of blacks. I love games, I truly do. If I had the money, I would own all consoles and have a massive game library. I don't care about the companies, about the drama, about any of that sh!t. I care about the games and the experience because that is what it is really all about. Playing some games, having some fun, and enjoying your time. That is what I think makes a true gamer. Not how many consoles you have, not your game library, its if you truly enjoy the games that you like and not sh!t talking the games you don't. Its okay if you don't like them, because someone out there will. Now based of this belief, I can't really find any gamers on this site.
