Firmware 3.00 speeds up trophy load time

KingPS3.com: "As the PS3's Firmware update 3.00 comes in for a landing, so does some interesting features. Animated/dynamic backgrounds are now usable for your themes, PlayStation news has become easier to access, trophies have gotten the ability to earn you add-ons, and much more.

But, not mentioned previously by Sony when they listed the update's new toys, is the noticeable speed-up for your trophy list load time. Before the update, the list would delay a bit as it brought up all of your earned rewards, but now it appears to smoothly show up within a second or two.

While this has been confirmed by a few people, you might want to stick it in the speculation/rumor folder for now until we get more PS3 users talking about it."

just want to know if anyone else is having problem with firmware 3.0 cause 2 of my friends can't play music while using web brower and can't play music while looking at pictures, crazy sh*t

Try changing your PS3 output frequency in the audio settings to 48khz. That should fix it.

Just tested it myself.

deadreckoning6665776d ago

nope, same speed as before. Maybe it'll change 2morrow.

ThanatosDMC5776d ago

Really?! I thought they took that away some fw ago... geez didnt know.

dragunrising5776d ago

Trophy load up time is quite fast...as in 2X-3X the speed. Overall, the polish shows. The animated themes are nice (only 2 currently?). The PSN store is much more integrated.

New secret feature they didn't mention. You can save a screenshot on the online browser. This is actually useful to me since I use the online browser a lot (I'm writing this message on it).

I think it's a cool feature.

FamilyGuy5776d ago

It's less... glitchy/tempermental. I was getting a lot of freeze ups ever since 2 firmwres back but now it's good. I'm on it now

Hellsvacancy5776d ago

No difference here... Could be because of server load now. Will be checking back again tomorrow

Ri0tSquad5776d ago (Edited 5776d ago )

Just wish they would sync the new trophies unlocked in the background. Something tells me it won't be long before it's implemented though.

Silent5776d ago

wth??!!? this is cool, XMB is faster and smoooother. I like it. That theme standard animated theme is a mind trip.

Overall i think the fw was pretty good. Few things i dislike (bigger font...), but i guess ill get used to it.

Project: Horned Owl Review

From the mid-1980s to the early part of the 2000s, light gun rail shooters were a staple in both arcade and home system gaming. Arguably, the genre started to really hit its stride in the mid-1990s. While games like Time Crisis, Virtual Cop, and House of the Dead, among others, dominated both the home system and arcade space, some one relegated to only home game systems. Today, we’ll be talking about a little-known cult game published by Sony called Project: Horned Owl. This game was developed by Alfa Systems, and all in all, this is a fun game.

The score for the first Plants Vs Zombies is such great, iconic music that it has a timeless quality. Not quite the level of Minecraft, but wonderful in its own right.
