Russ Frushtick of MTV Multiplayer writes:
"The other day I got a look at "Rock Band Network," the new initiative which will allow folks to upload their own songs into "Rock Band." I was curious what Harmonix thought of the song creation tools in "Guitar Hero," but apparently they're of the mind that the two products offer widely different features. Harmonix views GH Studio as more of a composition tool, since it doesn't allow you to upload music directly, instead forcing you to use in-game assets.
To get a response, I reached out to Activision to see how they view GH Studio and how it compares to "Rock Band Network." What I got back was a laundry list of features. Like a politician, they don't directly refer to their opponent, instead opting to focus on certain leading aspects."
Dave writes: "Hopefully time will be kind to Rock Band 3. It’s the equivalent of a Blade Runner or Van Gogh, unappreciated and undersold in its own time, but something that has undeniable quality. We may never see another Rock Band, no encore to this great series, but in Rock Band 3 and Rock Band 4, we got some pretty awesome final tracks."
This week Omari (@OmariAkil) from @bgbrothas makers of #RapGodz joins Mike (@AssaultSuit) and Aaron (@Ind1fference) to talk about: Rap Godz and the Sonic the Hedgehog movie in addition to a plethora of board games and video games.
Joe Y writes: With server closures, glitches, and broken patches, many games have unobtainable achievements and trophies. Here are the top 10 you can't 100% anymore.
"It sounds simple enough, but due to the expiration of licenses, one of the four songs, Promised Land by Vesuvius, is no longer available to download. If you previously had it downloaded, it will *not* be taken away, so you'll still be able to grab this one."
Well damn it. I really dig that song from The Rocker and I did not know it was in RB3. I stopped playing after RB2.
Online achievement/trophies are dumb. I’m not sure why they still include them. I recall the modern warfare games were applauded for not including them.
Unless the game is an online only game because what choice is there at that point.
Half of these are false .. The Evolve one can still unlocked... Ghostbusters is only unachievable on PS3 its still online on 360.. Destiny 2 one is only unobtainable for a while as said by bungie... GTAV one can still be unlocked too in a private game. And the Black Ops 3 one can still be unlocked using a few different methods. Guy who wrote this is clueless.
When a games server goes offline then they should allow users to create their own p2p servers to keep these games active. They should also unlock or delete the trophies from any list to those who havent got them.
I can think of a few honorable mentions. there is one for smartglass seeing as smartglass is now defunct. there is also ones for 1v100 and dorito crash course 2 since both of those games are also defunct.
I just wonder why no one got a review for gh5 already . Hell it's even already the 1st and nothing
The eventual outcome is extremely easy to predict.
GH5's system will have FAR more custom content, because people have all the tools they need to compose the music right there on the spot. They compose each instrument separately using pre-recorded samples, and then they play them. It's easily accessible. On the downside, all of that custom music sounds like cheap ringtones for cellphones made in 1999, and you can't use real music or any authentic recorded content. For small-time indie bands who want to introduce their own real music, they can compose a cover of their music in Guitar Hero, but it'll never ever sound even remotely similar to the real thing. Plus, they can't add anything outside of the title and the author of the song to their released track; that means no band name, no hometown, no website, nothing.
Rock Band's network will have a lot less custom content, because people will need to compose their music from outside the game, which takes more work but has the potential to result in vastly higher quality content. Some will elect to use computer software, such as Garage Band or Acid, while others will opt for the truly authentic Rock Band experience by actually performing the music with real instruments. They then import the recorded audio tracks of these compositions or performances into the Rock Band composing software, then set up the notes and send them into the game, where they can actually make money by selling these songs to people. It's almost exactly as if they licensed their band's music to Harmonix for release in Rock Band; it's the sound of real instruments and real vocals, rather than an artificial MIDI-like cover. The downside to this is that you have to compose your own music outside of the game, and that's a BIG major downside right there for those who just want to mess around. There's no messing around with the Rock Band Network, but that means the RBN will have much less stuff compared to GH5, but all of it will be much higher quality.
Think that's a good enough analysis. They each have their ups and downs, but most of the differences are in accessibility and quality of content. Basically let's just say GH5's system is for casuals and RB's system is for professionals.
good reviews = early you should know that look at batman early review then look at wolfenstein late review
This is incredibly stupid , still no GH5 review , and it gets worse , magazine like OPM got reviews for games releasing into late september like Fifa 10 , but no GH5 in sight .
GH4's online was crap , while i love the genre enough to get both rock band and GH franchises (but screw the spin offs from both) , and while GH5's track list sounds interesting enough , i'm not buying a crappy online again .
