Ghostbusters PS3 patch doesn't deliver 720p

The new PS3 patch for Ghostbusters doesn't seem to provide the visual upgrade the PS3 fans were hoping for. A press release issued earlier stated the recently released patch will provide "an increase in resolution to match that of Xbox 360".

However, this doesn't quite seem to be the story.

Suckers...But, but, but Its was the lead on the PS3rd.

PirateThom5783d ago

They said it was lead, it's very obvious it wasn't.

CernaML5783d ago

I find it more suitable to take a stab at Terminal Reality rather than the fanboys.

OK so it doesn't match the 720P but it's a lot better than it was and to be honest if it reduces some of the problems they shared(which isn't adressed at all here)then it does make the packages near eqyal or near enough for people not to bother changing their system of choice anyway for this game. Or in the Ujk means that you can pick up the PS3 version for £25 new while the 360 one you'd still have a wait(IIRC).

why the headline "patch has problems"?? very misleading.. sensationalist journalism.

It was already a good game, despite one version being a bit blurry compared to the other version. I play games, not graphical comparisons. I'm about half way through at this point and I haven't been disappointed. A bump in resolution wasn't necessary, but I'll never complain about a game being improved in any way. How many developers would have even bothered?
At the end of the day we know the PS3 is the graphical champ, because we've seem the evidence time and time again with its exclusives (and even multiplats like Batman or Burnout for example). The question was never one about if the hardware was capable of putting out stunning visuals, we know it can. The question has always been on the developers ability to deliver stunning visuals.

Also, consider the source. Eurogamer has been busted time and time again for not fact checking, bashing articles, reviews of games they've hardly played, etc..etc. It's rather telling that EurogamerTV content is all over Xbox Live.

Don't support shoddy games and move on!

I guess at least Terminal Reality tried....

Anon19745782d ago

@ IdleLeeSiuLung. First off, Ghostbusters is a good game and if you're a fan of the series you owe it to yourself to give it a try. If it's not your thing, there are hundreds great games available on each console that you can play instead. If every bad game released was a "kick in the nuts" to console owners, 360 and Wii owners would be walking funny for life.

Again, this isn't one of those games. This game whole lot of fun and it's the dialog between the Ghostbusters that really makes this title work.

rockleex5782d ago

Because multiplats determine a system's full potential.

/sarcasm -_-"

IdleLeeSiuLung5782d ago

Yes, you are right there are plenty of games on each console. My comment wasn't meant as a stab on Sony themselves or the console, but rather at the developer. I tried the game on the 360 and it definitely wasn't for me.

However, I just think that they released a shoddy version on the PS3 especially after the timed exclusive in Europe for Sony. I'm glad they didn't hold back the 360 version though to match. If they would have done that, no-one would have been the wiser.

However, I just bought Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition for the PS3 at Fry's for $35!!! Yay!!!

IdleLeeSiuLung5782d ago

I just re-read your post and realized I missed your question. I'm sure the 360 has had a some bad ports, but none at the level of Ghostbuster or Orange Box.

Take what you will from that.

Anon19745779d ago (Edited 5779d ago )

Terminator Salvation was terrible on the 360 versus the PS3. The graphics were all messed up, textures and lighting missing and terrible screen tears, all which where non-existent on the PS3 version according to LOT. The phrase "PS3 wins this Head2Head in a land slide," was used.

Wanted was another titles that had serious issues on the 360 when the PS3 didn't have any.

Riddick and Star Wars: Forced unleashed had huge performance issues on the 360 and not on the PS3. Mirror's Edge apparently had issues on the 360 that would "leave you cringing."

No bad ports on the 360? Think again. These were also some very high profile games. The question is, why weren't we subjected to endless articles about how "gimped" these games were on the 360 like the endless stream of Ghostbusters articles, when the problem has now been addressed?

Review - Ghostbuster The Video Game Remastered (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Todd Eggleston: "Ghostbusters The Video Game is nostalgia done right, and puts you right back in 1984. It isn’t a masterpiece of a game, and neither was the movie, but it reminds us again that it is ok for entertainment to just be entertaining. It is a game that deserves to be remastered and remembered. And 35 years later, it also serves to remind us that a remaster doesn’t always need to be Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. Sometimes, Ray Parker Jr. is exactly who you need to call."
