BioShock 2 starts new trend, avoids Q1 2010 release

Speaking to a 2K Games representative at GamesCom, Joystiq learned that a new BioShock 2 trailer is set to be revealed at next year's PAX East show, which will also be host to a strong presence from the company. With the undersea sequel still being promoted during the last week of March, we were able confirm the obvious implication: BioShock 2 won't be out during the cluttered first quarter of 2010.

The story is too old to be commented.

First they push it to 2010 to avoid the '09 holiday rush. Now 75% of the holiday games are pushed back to 2010. Sounds like they're lying to me. It's just not ready yet. The name Bioshock speaks for itself and can sell well even with all the other games. What a sorry excuse

They could've moved it back to '09... not much competition now. It would sell well against MW2. People could ask for both for the holidays

"Sounds like they're lying to me. It's just not ready yet."

No sh*t, thats the reason they pushed it back in the FIRST PLACE; they said it wasn't ready. They TOLD US that's why they pushed it back. THey aren't trying to excuse anything.

It's all a bunch of BS. Here's a quote, which says both a delay would be beneficial and that more time is needed. I've read articles stating both reasons... There were articles stating that they wanted to avoid the holiday rush.

"Take-Two CEO Ben Feder also said during the conference that the development delay was not console specific, and that he believes the game will benefit (financially) from being released outside of the crowded Christmas schedule."

"We recognize that our revised outlook for the balance of fiscal year 2009, due to both internal and external factors, is a disappointment. That said, we concluded that moving the release of BioShock 2 into fiscal year 2010 was the right decision for the product."

Booo

Oh well, if they dont just sit on it but take the time to polish it then it can only be a good thing. I do fear more games will be dropping out of Q1 though and I just hope that someone doesnt decide these all need to be held off till the "holidays". That would stink.

Yeah...but I just have a feeling this is a business decision because everyone got pushed back to Q1 2010...

Although I hope they don't sit on their asses but make sure I can see my reflection in that water lol...even if it does have fragments of past Big Daddies.

Gamer_Politics3565d ago

well i'm not really looking foward to this game anyway

I am no bioshock expert altho I had two copies of it and the platinum trophy, but didn't the guy who did the story most of the designs and most of the script say he wants nothing to do with the 2nd one!? maybe i am wrong but that sounds like all the best bits of bioshock.

You mean Ken Levine. And yes, he is not involved with this game. He's working on some other big mysterious project right now. I doubt he hates Bioshock 2 lol. The team working on this game will make a great product in the end.
