Meanwhile in India: Playstation 3 Still Retails for More than $400

Split-screen: "Sony Computer Entertainment has successfully turned the media tide in it's favour with the announcement of the Playstation 3 Slim and long-awaited price drops for it's flagship console. The rest of the world can be content with the system now retailing for $299; India's Playstation 3, on the other hand, has received a price cut of about 20%, reducing the price to Rs. 19,990. The stickler? It's still roughly $410 USD, about $110 more than the new pricing – almost like the much heralded price cut passed us over."

Likewise in Sweden, it still retails for around $500 and prior it retailed around $600. Where is my pricedrop?

Edit:

Nike, just did some research and found out that it will retail for $500 which isn't really a $100 pricedrop. Well, I can either blame our high-taxes or just buy it from another EU country for less.

Wow, really? O_O

And the worst part is, it's not even for the new PS3 Slim. This is for the old 80 GB model of the PS3. That is, unless the price drop is for that alone...

Atleast as far as I have seen India sees the newer 6 months to 1 year after it launches everywhere else

When the 80 GB without backward connectivity was being sold in the US, India still had the 40 GB with backward connectivity (at a hefty price too)

Even the PS2 Slim arrived in India a long time after it was introduced across the world (and during the rise of the PS3's life-cycle no less). It'll still be a while before we see the PS3 Slim here.

South Africa is a more viable country for Sony than India.. has been so since the PS1 days.

Price of a PS3 in SA is just over $550. A price cut would be welcome here :)
