Developers Q&A: Coded Arms Assault + New Screens

With the buzz surrounding Kojima Production's Metal Gear Solid 4, it is sometimes forgotten that Konami is working on a slew of other PlayStation 3 titles as well. One such project is the futuristic sci-fi FPS, Coded Arms Assault -- a game series that was birthed on the PlayStation Portable with bigger ambitions for down the road. To understand exactly what Konami has planned, IGN spoke with Coded Arms Producer Yasuo Daikai in a quick interview over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Read what he had to say after the jump. I must say this is the first game that has reasonable pictures with it for PS.

This game could be nice for the console. It looks like the genre that Too Human on 360 is in also on some pictures. Although still I think Too Human looks better.

But after Tekken 6 and Warhawk I would say finally there are coming some better pictures

I dont know i didnt really like the trailer it had some cool effects but didnt really look fun at all not to mention the last coded arms game sucked and this one seems to fllow suit

Looks very nice, does anyone know when this one is expected to be released? Also, is this a propietary engine that Konami is using? Looking forward to seeing more on this game down the line, it just made it into my top 5 to watch for.

anytime between april and june... and this looks even better... the creator says that they are forcing down some serious physis and Ai which the PSP verion lacked... and he said that this isn't even a sequel to The one on psp ... Codedarms:Contagion is ... well im very pulled into to this Game... after seeing the extended version of the trailer, this will sure be a game that some attention. for sure

The vid looks good I personally like it more than Too Human. Too Human looks sexy in stills but when they showed the ingame footage at E3 it looked g@y.

If they can get some good multiplayer and a quality control interface, this game will rock! and that means NO LAG, okay Konami servers?!

The developer said that there are other hackers in the game that have the same objectives as you but for other reason... and will either cooperate with u or challenge and attack... something u dont really se much of in FPS... others that want the samething u do and deside to help or challenge... really interesting concept... i hope Konami can pull this off effectively

It would be funny if this game does well in Japan considering it's a FPS type of game. If that happens I don't want to hear anymore how Japan has a different taste for games. That means they was bias against USA products unless this game isn't going to show up over there.

Agreed on the Gears of War. Halo 3 is hard to tell because they've only released in-game cinematics, versus this is actual gameplay. But I believe Halo 3 will probably look at least this good, Bungie is taking their time and I'm sure that MS is putting a lot of pressure to make it the killer app for 360.

Regardless, this game still looks great and will only look better down the line.

That is, because this is really the first ingame images and footage that looks above average. I mean every time on Warhawk, Motorstorm and Tekken 6 it doesn't look well.

MGS4 looks great, but I think it's much if not all CGI we still see.

But well. Still I am curious to see about the launch line up. I'll stick with my quote. Much Sony fanboys were talking down on the 360 launch line up, while Sony's is in my view a lot less as far as I've seen now...

I don't know if when this game will launch, but for Sony it should be rather sooner then later

It still looks early in development, but the game definetly has potential, I will be keeping my eyes on this title hopefully it will turn out to be something special

This has the same graphics engine as Gears of War, Unreal Engine 3.....but its all in how you use it.

Frame City Killer ran on UE3, remember how bad that looked. To me, this is average.

And they do use the same Game engine... The thing is that Gears of war has been development for about close to two years... and no no else knows the engines like the people who create the engine so they will get the the best yeilds from it... On the other hand... konami seems to know what exaclty they are doing with this game... so given more time and they have another 9-12 months till the launch of this game they should pull out a beautiful work of art... This title will be hot... i cant wait for it's release
