When gaming addictions go bad

Gamer Limit writes "Most of us in our mid to late twenties have been gaming since we were very young. The more hardcore of us (hint: if you are reading this, then you are one of them) still continue to purchase every console on release, purchase every triple-A title on release, and pretty much spend almost all of our free time on the hobby.

Recently, one of my favourite YouTubers, LukeMorse1, a collector with one of the largest gaming stocks in history, ended his video posts indefinately with a dreadfully sad vlog within which he detailed how he lost his wife and child due to a "selfish" obsession with his hobby. What made it all the more difficult to watch, was that it is an example of what could happen to any of us."

A very moving video that serves as an important reminder of where priorities truly lie.

A lot of times gaming could lead to depression.

For my case that's how it was back in 2007.

Luckily I've cut back my gaming habits and play here and there once awhile.

Hopefully this guy could get back with his family and make things settle.

He should start off by selling his gaming collection and let go.

Surely he still has legal right to his son? Or is it another sad case of the wife refusing to let the child see his own father and authorities doing nothing about it. Of course this might not be happening at all.

I could be very wrong, but it seems that it was building up and building up and finally the wife said enough's enough and took the son and left. Because judging from the video and his remorse, if his wife made concerns in advance he could have worked it out before the situation exploded. Just my observation and speculation. However, I'm definitely not condoning his obsession. I myself have to consciously keep myself in check.

In any case, it's a tragic tale. Hoping he'll be they'll be able to reconcile and he'll still be able to play games.

Over videogames... Damn...

Now he's got to keep praying and focus on getting his family back. A man isn't sh*t without his family.

Sad but true... it COULD happen to any of us. Just look how many lives/careers/marriages Everquest and WoW decimated.

....You pick up crack as hobby.

This is a must watch video for everyone.

poindat5366d ago

It's a good reminder to keep gaming as what it should be, a HOBBY, not as a lifestyle.

-Mezzo-5366d ago

exactly, it opened my eyes a bit as well, though i am not married yet but still i have people i should be caring more about.

And between who is this lowlife giving disagree's to everyone.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

Jayz2cents a supporter of there products also has issues

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
