The lads at Gameplayer.com.au have taken Forza Motorsport 2 out for a test drive and detailed their thoughts on this upcoming simulation.
WOW....Great Preview, honestly I was a little dissapointed with some of the things he had to say at the end, but I like when the reviewer "seems" like he's giving you his honest impression on the game instead of just sounding like a overzealous fan of the game. IMO, the biggest critique was the lack of the c0ckpit view, -If true, I hope that will change but I'm not so sure at this stage. At any rate if this game is released in its current form it still sounds like it will be one [email protected] simulation racer. -I went out and bought a racing wheel for the first time, the official M$ wireless racing wheel and it feels awesome, I can't wait to use it with Forza2!
[...]a driving simulation so spectacularly anal in its attention to detail[...] WTF?
There are plenty of legitimate reasons as to why there is no in-c0ckpit view. If you know anything about game development or licensing you'd know this. People need to stop expecting superfluous content just because it's in another game.
I agree with Feral Phoenix: Almost every preview I ever read always seems desperate to look at the "bright side," no matter how terrible the game actually is... It's good to see a preview that actually mentions the good AND the bad (though in Forza 2's case, there seems to be a whole lot more of the former) As for the driver-seat view: EVERY racing game should have it! The first time I saw it in PGR3, it blew me away. The realism was unprecedented, and was the first time I actually thought: "Now THIS is next-gen!" Oh well... At least PGR4 will still have it.
How is a in car, behind the driving wheel view superflous? With high-res next-gen visuals it is not only a viable alternative for a camera view (where in previous generations it just made life harder) but it is the most realistic view. This is a simulation after all? test Drive: Unlimited and Colin McRae: DIRT have excellent in car views
