Portable Xbox Slip-up?

It seems that a drunken French MS employee slipped up and revealed that there is indeed a portable Xbox gaming system planned for next-year. Not only that, but the inebriated worker also revealed that ATI is working on the chipset. Of course this is rumor for now.

I'm not gonna believe this for a few reasons. I could believe there being an ipod killer coming up that also plays games, but still that's hard to believe because nintendo has such a handheld monopoly

If they bring this thing to market they better have relevant features that all te in to gaming or its gonna be just like the PSP, most people buy them to play emulated games and watch porn(i work at a Gamestop and everyone traded in has porn on it) i had a PSP and got rid of it im thinkin about gettin another bc sony announced the whole downloadable psone games thing, lets just hope it happens

i've played the PSP and I hated the controls. They like jabbed into my fingers, and the joystick thingy wouldn't work smoothly at all. I tried playing liberty cities and got so frustrated.

Yeah i know what you mean it seems like it really wasnt carefully thought out at all, its like theyknew the huge screen would be the draw to it and the extra features so they didnt think about playability..theres definate room for improvement and a year later it seems like they're content with what they have a system with really no original games and tons of ports. Most people bought bc of the initial cool factor but once that wore off you were stuck with a lackluster handheld that uses a format the even the company that made the thing has abandoned. The average person walks into my store looks at it and and wonders where the good games are and in all honesty i have to point to the ds section

The PSP looks sleak, nice big bright LCD screen and the functions of playing MP3's, Movies and games.

Trouble with the PSP are the following:

1. Not enough quality games available.
2. Very tricky controls on most games due to the button layout
3. Nightmare to run MP3's from the console
4. Can no longer run homebrew programs of the console, which is was meant to do

I like my PSP for some games, but I love my DS. It's more fun, lots of excellent games, and this is what the Wii is going for.

whether its true or not i'm not support MS on this one.despite the xbox 360 being a nice machine it still delivering poor on games their hasn't been anything since match. all the big titles are coming in december thats huge gap with nothing except ports.now i don't see how ms is gonaa succed in the handheld business when they can't deliver on xbox360.you see what makes the ds a success is the constant delivery of AAA games that puts it at the top. will ms match this i don't

They are working on a multimedia player not a game device. Something like an iPod. There is no money in handheld gaming there is more in the mp3 market. And only microsoft can knock down the iPod and everyone pretty much knows that. Even sony failed miserable trying to beat the ipod with their retard sony connect and that weird mp3 player with no colour screen. MS already has Media Player 11 with URGE, they have experience making things so all they need is to release the media device. If they can price it near the iPod they will kill apple and the device better be solid and look good.

I'd have to think MS has it's hands full already with Vista, Office, and the 360. Maybe a multimedia device, but a portable game console entering a market already well inundated with devices?

But it brings up an interesting question...anyone seen Allard in the last few months? Where is that guy?

Allard is rumored to be the head of this new device microsoft is working on. He created the xbox and xbox 360. Right when the xbox 360 launched he was reassigned to some new divice. I doubt Microsoft would release a small gaming device, if they did it would go all out like the psp but there is no money to be made their. The media player however follows the vision that microsoft has imagine an iPod like device with live intergration and messaging. Maybe even play some arcade games. Will be perfect with their live anywhere plan, I would buy it since I don't have an iPod and will consider buying the MS device if it's priced well. I hate the Apple because of their DRM and their greedy ways forcing you to use itunes.

we don't need a portable xbox, however an ipod that can download xbox live arcade games and be apart of live anywhere would definitly sell. you would get some gamers buying it and regular people who want it for music, some pda functions would be nice also. i dislike ipods (had 2) so i went and tried the sony one, worse consumer device ever. what a piece of cr@p, overpriced as well for what it can do.

I doubt this is true and I hate handhelds so this is lame no matter what, handhelds suck, I cant STAND staring at a 2 inch screen for more than like 5 minutes...the gameboy was the worst when if their was ANY sun you couldn't see what was on the screen, which was a while ago but that was the first and last handheld I ever played

i have a psp and i have some good games for it like twisted metal and GTa and Syphon filter. But yea you cant really see the screen when your outside, it really gets on my nerves. Its like portable, so you figure ou can bring it everywhere and playanywhere but you cant because you cant even see the damn screen same goes to gameboys. If micro soft does come out with some kind of handheld portable player thing maybe theyll work on having it so bright you can see it out side

I haven't had a true handheld in 10years.
I bought an n-gage qd 5 years ago to use as my only phone, mp3 player, I could keep notes for class on it, books, and everything else a phone with symbian os could give me. If ms can give me all that and still make it small enough and durable enough to put in my pocket than I'd prob jump on the wagon (minus the phone).
