Konami confirms PS2 re-issues

Konami has confirmed to Eurogamer that it is reissuing old PS2 games to shops, as EG reader Richard Garrard suspected.

"They are proper reissues," a spokesperson told us. "Konami has put them out at budget price because of demand. They are re-manufactured. They are ours."

Those PS2 games are Suikoden Tactics, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. And they will soon be joined by Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4.

I dont understand why they haven't made a next gen Zone of the Enders yet? They are concentrating too hard on MGS, and honestly I would pick ZOE over MGS any day.

Baka-akaB5467d ago

because while i agree with you , everyone would pick MGS anyday over Zoe , just look at the sales .

joemayo765467d ago

and i was just about to hit the "bid" button for ZOE 2nd runner fo like $60+ whew :) thnx konami

Ssxtreme365467d ago

i feel retarded for selling my copy of z.o.e 2 years ago and ever since i've been trying to get it back but every time i visit gameslut they never have it. good to know it will be easier to find/buy now, hopefully its at a respectable price like 30 bucks or lower.....

ThanatosDMC5467d ago

Damn picture. I thought a ZOE3 was getting announced.

£10-20 is pretty good, those games are usually priced around that second hand.

Carl14125467d ago

Very decent price!

Not played a Zone of the Enders game before, can't go wrong for that price to be honest.

Never played Silent Hill 2 either (i know, and i call myself a gamer!), so i shall be picking that up too =]

callahan095467d ago (Edited 5467d ago )

I'll get Suikoden Tactics and Zone of the Enders: Second Runner again. For sure. I just want them, really, to release a Suikoden Collection with reissues of Suikoden 1 & 2 (PSone) + 3, 4 and 5. I'd pay 100 bucks for that collection. And it would certainly make Suikoden 2 prices fall significantly on ebay and more people could finally play that game.

hay5467d ago

Dreams of all PS suikodens on one BD...

Sir Ken_Kutaragi5467d ago

i.e 'Scramble' and 'Frogger' on PSN??? ;) (Original Versions?)

+ You don't have to worry about doing Trophies for those 2 games!!! ;-D
(LEAVE!!!IT!!!Sir Ken) ;)

dylandurden5467d ago

I'll get them all, no joke

This news made my day

I agree, I like SH3 the most though.

Cacabunga2d ago

Auto Modellista will always be one of my favorite racers of all time..

gold_drake4d ago

id throw haunting ground into the mix. it still looks fantastic.

but i still dont quite understand why we never got a dragon quest 8 remaster for ps4. even the damn 3ds got one.

OtterX2d ago

I'd add Rogue Galaxy, Shadow of the Colossus.

Scissorman2d ago

Silent Hill 3 was straight up sorcery. It has better hair animation than most modern games, which is wild to me.

Venoxn4g1d 3h ago

I would throw in MGS3 as well

Why Metal Gear Solid 3 is the Best Prequel Ever Made

With Metal Gear Solid Delta on its way, we look back to see how the original Snake Eater is the foundation on which the entire Metal Gear series is built and is without doubt the greatest prequel ever made.

just_looken41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

The fact you can kill the end by either changing your console clock or my way when he is on the dock is such a cool Easter egg.

My video/play through i time coded the part of end getting killed at the dock
https://www.youtube.com/liv...

The river scene with ocelot's dad will also change depending on your kill count
https://www.youtube.com/liv...

So many things that can change on each playthrough

Oh also the iconic ladder scene always a classic

just_looken41d ago

wait are people upset i gave out spoilers on a 20 year old ps2 game?

Like for real this was on top of alot of charts for sales with so many different versions

SimpleDad41d ago

There are many people (new) that didn't experience the game dude.

just_looken41d ago

It's 20 years old man these new "gamers" are weak

No one here ever turn on a history channel or go to school there are scary spoilers there too.

Getting hate for talking about a 20year old game on a comment section with a article that talks about the 20year old game with spoilers in the article

" original Snake, aka Big Boss, whose DNA was used to create the clones Solid, Liquid and Solidus"

Quick call 911 IGN spoiled the game

Chard41d ago

Wait til he realises there are people born years after MGS3 released who are now getting into mature gaming

just_looken41d ago

@chard

I was watching robocop before i grew chest hair are you seriously saying people only play M rated games after they turn 17?

Chard41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

@just_looken
That’s not what I’m saying at all.
Im referring to the weird conclusion you jumped to, which is that anyone who hasn’t played MGS3 by now took too long and are also weak for being bothered by spoilers this long after the original release.

Plenty of people without chest hair will try this remake as their first exposure to MGS3. It’s not somebody’s fault or weakness if they were born in 2010 and had better things to do than play MGS3 prior to this remake. The world doesn’t revolve around you

Aphrodia41d ago

And no one who hasn't played this game yet will know what the hell he's referring too. sensitive, delicate, snowflake.....

Inverno41d ago

Have an agree, if people haven't bothered playing a 20 year old game and get mad at spoilers then they should stay out of enthusiast posts.

just_looken41d ago

Right and this article has series/game spoilers

Yui_Suzumiya41d ago

I'll call the WHAMBULANCE for the down voters, lol

just_looken41d ago

Right? like wow perhaps i should post about the gta 3 story in the next article get hate there for spoiling that game.

SimpleDad41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

You really are something. Not only does a world turn around you, but you also are sensitive to 5 dislikes.
Who is weak now?
All remakes are done to bring in a new audience and make new money.
Why would you spoil a game or any kind of media for whatever reason If You experienced it?

Ohhh for your Youtube channel... there it is.

Jesus... imagine if someone commented your gameplay. Badly...

My boys will experience this remake for the first time.

just_looken41d ago

1. Its not the dislikes its many post's on this site and other's always the haters or like you mad about spoilers on old old games.

2. My youtube channel is older that most "gamers" today i lost alot of vids do too youtube bots and yourself has no proof even playing any of the games so go ahead post away on stuff you have no idea how to play.

3. My header is real i used to make a few k or more a month or more with mahcinima when bf/gta/halo/world of tanks were in there prime. Now there is just few vids here there

MeteorPanda41d ago

love it.

Just remember while this game came out years ago, theres a whole generation f gamers who would have never played it. it wasn't current for them.

So the remasters are aimed at bringing in new fans of the franchise, posting these may spoil it for some.

just_looken41d ago

The article literally has spoilers in it who the boss's kid is the eva relationship and entire series information you only get by playing the games.

VersusDMC41d ago

Personally DMC3 is my favorite prequel. MGS3 is top 3 though next to Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.

Kinda surprised Red Dead 2 isn't IGN's pick for best prequel.

just_looken41d ago

Its red dead revolver red dead redemption red dead redemption 2

I am still waiting for a way to turn off kingdom hearts looping music but the collection is cheap on amazon for those wanting 2 play the games.

franwex41d ago

My favorite prequel is Yoshi’s Island.

Yui_Suzumiya41d ago

Dan Salvato's favorite game to speed run

purple10141d ago

thats a real gamer there, someone who plays a hack'n'slash, a stealth, and an aRPG. * claps hands *

Yui_Suzumiya41d ago

Definitely not arguing that 😁

mastershredder41d ago

Ever? So much nopes to this. Also, IGN licks feat for $.

Konami didn't recover after ditching Kojima, but this Metal Gear revival is its best shot

With Kojima gone, a lot is riding on Konami's revival of Metal Gear.

Not really, Konami is basically in name only and like so many other Japanese studios that have come and gone they are just going to be an IP troll and milk that cow until it is dry. Also one of the advertised features is playing the game from a different camera view while everything else remains the same will just result in making the game easier like what happened with Twin Snakes.

Cacabunga45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

If this turns out good and gamers support it we will get the other ones.. i really hope we get MGS original in zanzibar, Peace Walker and Portable Ops remakes after this one.. they are related with naked snake

Portable Ops was sooooooo good and underrated

gold_drake44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

Konami might not be super active in the videogame business anymore, or less, but they still make a ton of money with their collections and pachinko machines.

and their castlevania series on netflix is really successful also.

just_looken44d ago

@jinsing

Your dislikes shows this sites situation

Konami has been doing all of that for years now like there contra games or mgs ports

mgs survive anyone

isarai45d ago

When are people going to learn that all Konami is doing with these games Is licensing them out? They are not trying to revive their game development Branch and they are not the ones developing this. It is studios that came to them and asked to use the license to make a game and they have been doing this pretty much since MGSV

jeromeface45d ago

Remaking all his work reaks of desperation. The only reason they are getting away with it is everyones deep love for the series. If delta is successful (which as of right now it should be), they'll be sure to remake all of them.

Redgrave45d ago

Big shoes to fill, and compared to SH2 - this is as much a 1:1 remake as you can get. You can still see the PS2 bones in the movements and how the cutscenes have the same angles. If anything, I'd have preferred the reverse.... with SH2 being closer to a 1:1 remake but prettier, and have MGS3 have a little more freedom.

Ideally, MGS3 with a MGSV skin in terms of gameplay and freedom of approach. This is more like a high budget remaster than a remake. Having recently replayed the Bluepoint remaster, this is going to be like that same experience but even prettier.

But, as with both MGS3 and SH2, nearly impossible shoes to fill if not outright so. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Such is the legacy of these GOAT titles.

Inverno45d ago

It's a one to one remake, using the same voice recordings too. Not a reimagining, no new content thus far announced, just a straight remake of a game that already exists, but now with prettier graphics. There's no revival, they proved they can't make anything related to MG after Survival. They'll just remake all the games and people will eat it up.
