Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed is PS3 Exclusive

Gamer.no, who contacted Ubisoft yesterday about the recent rumors reports that Assassin's Creed is still a PS3 exlusive. Talking to the Norwegian game site Product Manager of Ubisoft Nordic Harald Horsberg says that the game is announced exclusively for the PS3 after he had been in contact with the French HQ.

PR Manager Fredrik Moberg adds “there are no indications that this game is headed for other formats besides the PS3”

Another report is also coming from the official Ubisoft forums. A Community Manager from Ubisoft under the name of 'UbiRazz posted this statement.

"Ubisoft have confirmed no such thing. Assassin's Creed will come on PlayStation 3 and at this time, no other platform has been confirmed." said UbiRazz.

This of course won’t kill the rumors for good, as people will still argue that a 360 version could become available somewhere down the line, maybe 6-12 months after the PS3 version, but at the moment the official word from Ubisoft is that Assassin's Creed is a PS3 exclusive.

Official july 4th, 2006 ubisoft announced that assassin's creed is also being released for the XBOX 360 and the PC.
I was right. Also, just a note it's still "not" going to be released for the ps3 unless sony works it's bugs out in time. It just cant handle this game nor mgs4.

It's true and announced. Keep your eyes open on this site. It seems to take 3, 4 or 5 days to have the stories approved but it's true.
You'll see by friday I'd say. Ps3 will still probably get it first due to the sony pay off agreement but it's a comin:)) Well unless sony ps3 doesnt actually come out this year then we'll get it by xmas.

Oh come on. This is the third time I've heard about confirmination and de-confirmation.

This is Ubisoft we're talking about. Lately they've been following EA's tactics on releasing every game they produce to every console. I couldn't find the link for it, but the 360 version is already well into the development stages (don't know about the Wii/PC). This thing is like a merry-go-round. Why can't they just confirm it already? Most everybody knows it's coming out for the Xbox 360. There's no way this game is going to be a PS3 exclusive. Ubisoft KNOWS that if they wouldn't bring this game to the 360, they'd be losing a good amount of profits from it.

We just have to wait and see what happens. However I believe that come the Tokyo Game Show we will know exactly what Ubisoft intend to do with this title. it prob won't be at TGS, not their type of game u know lol. If anything you will hear something at X05, if there is something to be said, or heck maybe even E3'07. I'm not trying to sound like a fanboy, im just saying if you know ubisoft. Then you know if they a game that can be a franchise, as in having sequels and wut not, they always release it for multi systems. Member back when Splinter Cell came out, they said the same thing they are saying now with this. Saying we only have it coming on the xbox for now. Then later on you saw them release it on multi.

If not this version of AC, then for sure the sequal to it. Its just ubisoft, they are in it for the money. But hey nice to hear ps3 got a real killer app. Now they have something to hold them over till MGS4 releases.

Many developers are closing the doors to the ps3 since it's more so a "plauge station 3" instead. Ya cant have a game released on a bottlenecking system ya just cant and that's what the current yes current july 2006 playstation is.
So it's quite easy to say what's going to happen, really the ps3 is crap so far, nothing since march has been released on it to be demo'd that isnt played on either a PC or XBOX 360 or just a CG on a PC. March's MGS4 fiasco was the last time anything has actually played real time on a so called ps3. And, If ya caught that show, then you'd know that sony exec.s were constantly appologizing and making excuses for it bottlenecking and just freezing up every few seconds. This is just the facts.

Listen at this point with everything I have seen there really is no rumor to this. Assassins Creed is not EVER going to be a console exclusive. No Ubisoft published game has ever been a console exclusive. Even the Over G Fighter game does not say "Only for XBOX" on it.
There is no fight or rumor about this , I think it is safe to say this game is a timed exclusive for PS3 and that is ALL! There is no way a 3rd party title of this production value from a company that is fending off hostile takeover issues will be an exclusive. Major gaming sites ( including this one )and publications all have "confirmed" statements that it will be mult. platform. We should stop arguing about it and doubting it. At this point I am going into wait and see mode with a comfortable feeling this game is coming to the 360 and PC.

yea they don't really do exclusives. Only one I know for sure is Red Steel for the Wii. But yea I doubt that game will become a franchise, so thus the exclusivness. I mean they said it right off the back, it was exclusive to the Wii. I think what ppl are gettin at is that they have yet to announce it that its "only on ps3" they keep saying like right now we don't have plains blah blah. It's important to understand that it is about over for the Playstation brand as far as industry dominance goes. Thst is a different animal all together. Gears of War is an ANNOUNCED 360 exclusive. Assassins creed has not been officially announced as a PS3 exclusive yet. I doubt it ever will. The game industry shows that are upcoming will be the test. If they announce this game as an exclusive then there you have it , if they don't and say things like "confirmed for initial release on PS3" then you can be sure it is multi platform.

The only thing this article does, is confirming that Ubisoft hasn't announced AC for PC/360 yet.

It says nothing about if it is a definite exclusive or not. So let's say it like this:

1. If it was an exclusive, Ubisoft would have said: "This is a PS exclusive, we won't bring it to PC/360 PERIOD.".

But they don't. They say only PS is announced other formats no comment. IF it was a real exclusive and Sony paid them enough they would say it.

2. So taking point one as a starting point, Sony probably paid enough for a timed exclusive for say 3 or 6 months after it's launch. Also they had the agreement of not saying anything in public about the TIMED exclusive. That's why they say the PS version is the only one ANNOUNCED

3. It could also be MS who has asked Ubisoft to tell nothing about the 360 version. And then suddenly @ X06 they pull this trick out of their pockets. That can be a nice hit in the face of Sony
