G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra - ZTGD Review

ZeroTolerance writes: I will admit, I am a huge fan of 80s cartoons, but I am not one of those superficial crybabies that gets offended when you change something to modernize it. G.I. Joe is not a sacred ground for me, so when I heard a live action movie was in the works I said "I bet it will at least be entertaining". Alongside each summer blockbuster must also reside a tie-in videogame, and this time EA has the pleasure of delivering the goods. The Rise of Cobra has decided to inject a little bit of old-school flavor to the mix by calling on classics such as Contra and Ikari Warriors for inspiration. The more I read and hear about how this is a lot like Contra, the closer I get to buying it. I heard the movie is good too.

yeah i'm not too concerned with the game, but the movie is gonna be boss.

games after movies don't typically do too well. so this score was expected.

WTF!? The graphics alone are worthy of a 1 out 10 for this game and the gameplay has been abysmal at best. Even a GI Joe fan can't enjoy this crappy game. Expect a 50 or lower average on MetaCritic.
Even IGN's 5.8 out of 10 is too much IMO.

Why can't developers just make a good movie based game. The closest thing we have is Riddick and X-Men Origins: Wolverine....sigh.

MK_Red3361d ago

So true.
Riddick is the only great one but I do agree that Wolverine was above most of the games based on movies.

That ain't so bad. When they said 'like Contra', i thought they meant absolutely
