IncGamers: Aion Preview, Week Three

IncGamers continues its exploration of the highly anticipated MMO, Aion.

This week, among other things, they raise the issue of swimming in the game, or rather, the complete lack of it. Do MMOs need swimming built in, or can it be skipped over in game where the characters can fly?

It's just another way to wall of areas, no biggie. Do you actually NEED to swim? No.

Maybe it's not strictly required but it does add a sense of realism.

If people want realism, they shouldn't be able to swim with armor on anyway. Let alone fly :P

Maybe people in this universe just don't know how to swim, or their bodies are unable to.

Just buy and thats it im very big against p2p games. Forces you to play them since your paying and when you want to take a break you cant just go hey i wanna play this game again.. Game sounds very good though about the water thing who really cares... wth you going to do in the water?? and the grinding part thats what mmos are .. grind fests as long as they are accompanied by well thought out quest and different things so you dont get bored its good.

I think swimming in one of the worst possible game mechanism , especially in mmo .

What's fun about be slowed down in mmo's water ?
It's dumb whatever way to go with , between yes you can drown or between it has no effect on you .

So here you are , a poor sob with the magical power to triple your speed , but you're slower than any of us would actualyl be into water , while being pummeled by stupid tortoises ?

So we get more freedom ? Who are we kidding , you can almost never cross a mmo's ocean by swimming even if you were crazy enough to do it . At some point you hit an invisible wall , or some "dark water place" you drown into , or respawn ...
