Exclusive reviews always get inflated ratings. IGN had it for the US with Resistance 2 and this one, and see how blatantly overrated both scores were.

As these deals become more often, IGN earns more money but loses invaluable credibility.

Because that is what it deserves right now. There are connection problems, and other issues a patch should fix. Eurogamer was basically insulting the users, and other silly stuff. This review at least tells the facts what it is atm.

The Bad:
* Fiddly controls in vehicular sections
* Too many unresolved plot strands.
Online issues not mentioned.

I am only bringing up Gears of War 2 because it is a blockbuster title which I am a huge fan of and it had some of the worst online problems this generation yet it got a pass from nearly every reviewer that reviewed it. Funny how that is conveniently overlooked.

My biggest problem with the gaming media as a whole is their lack of consistency.

...but also not as good as IGN. Ok...its their opinion. I had the most fun two years ago with a game they tougth only deserved 7.5 ( R & C: FTOD) so this is good for me. Anyway I see lately as if it is 2007 all over again. The negative articles, the reviews, the fanboys war...dejavu!! Also to me the game deserves the 9 IGN gave it. Ive played worse games with much better scores than a 7.5. Try and play it before judging by other's biased opinon.

Eurogamer was a terrible review because it was misleading. It basically didn't tell about the connectivity problems (which are by far the biggest problem with the game). I mean gamespot reviewed this face value for what it is right now. Which is what you should be doing.

Wasn't the Gears 2 problem based around the fact that the online was not functional over XBL at the time of writing so they had to rely on past experience? I think Gears 2 is WHY they now take more pre-cautions reviewing an online game/online component until they've logged a good few hours into it over standard channels.

I agree very much with this review. Eurogamer's score was a bit harsh and the author was a tad condescending in his language. He could've made his point with a bit less snobbery, although he made valid points. This review focuses on my main concern, which is the on-line connectivity issues.

As much as i loved gears 2, fat princess online doesnt come close to all the problems gears 2 had at launch. ngg12345 i dont really care how u spin this but gamespot did the same thing with ratchet & clank & said it had too much variety. 7.5 isnt a bad score but fat princess is a better game then that score. My score would be 8.5-9 average.

I am a huge Gears of War fan as well. I was so disappointed with the online and to this day I'm still not liking it. It was rather frustrating that no site was mentioning these problems.

The R&C review you are mentioning was a total black eye for Gamespot. I just want consistency from the gaming media. It's been a joke this entire generation and it's only getting worse.

Anyway, on topic, Fat Princess is loads of fun. 7.5 is a little too low, I would give it an 8. It's hella fun ;) my favorite PSN game so far :D Given that Fat Princess is a PSN title and only $15 though, maybe it deserves a little more credit. Also, lowering the score because of online problems is a little problematic; an update could fix the issues. Then again, hundreds of issues at launch and for months after, like SOCOM, is unacceptable. Many reviewers hold out until online issues are ironed out before they review the game, but you never know if they're going to be fixed or not and that's why it's tricky :S

Having said that, I guess it is fair to lower the score due to online problems then...

I don't know why the score is so low it is worth an 9 easy.

I look at the bad parts: Some maps are prone to stalemates, Slight imbalance in character classes, Connectivity issues.
These are going to be fixed but will Gamespot update the review? Of course they won't.

I havent played the game so cant argue, but few last reviews the gave were wii sports resort that got 8 and sims 3 which got 9.
and game that got same score are g-force on the wii and splosion man got 8. tbh the whole scoring system of gamespot is just epic fail.

The connection issues will be fixed. Its sad that this has become the norm.. Release a online game which is broken...I cant think of an online game that actually worked on release day as it was supposed to.
The bigger issues with this game:
are games go on forever, to long and boring
there are choke points which turn into scrums and you cant distinguish your character amongst the mass of color.

I don't think this is as biased as the Eurogamer review. Let's be honest, there are some issues with the game which can all be fixed. As long as we enjoyed the game it doesn't matter what the reviews say. Some people enjoyed Haze and Lair even though they failed critically.

Fat Princess is fun but i don't see myself playing this game a couple of months from now. It just gets boring after a while. I would give it an 8/10 though.

My comment was explained very well by The Wood. There is a consistent double standard when scoring exclusives. I'm sure that if games like R&C:ToD were xbox360 exclusives the infamus "Too much variety" 7.5/10 from Gamespot, would be instead "Game is awesome and fun" 9/10 Gamespot. That is why I take those reviews of PS3 exclusives with a grain of salt and always try them by myself.

so i wont continue to disagree with this sites opinion. There are online issues so as it stands ill give it an 8. This game is mainly about multiplayer so the score and review should and does kinda reflect that. GS have improved and it was Geff whatever that said 'too much variety' and he's not there anymore so im good.

I dont expect every ps exclusive to hit 90's but there's a reason why this review is 10 times more accurate and more palatable than the Eurogamer one even if both scores are below the average. Socom c got crucified because of its issues and that was all fair especially since it was a online only game but this excuse that some are making for the gears 2 reviews is retarded. The classic 'At the time of writing' one yet there were soo many reviews that came out after its release that still failed to mention the serious issues that plagued the game. The double standards in reviews have made some of us more sensitive than we should be. Cause an effect you could say but again at least this review kinda backs up its score even if i think they've scored it too low
