Flood of ARM-based Snapdragon and Tegra smartbooks to hit market in 4Q09

An array of smartbooks built around ARM-based Snapdragon or Tegra processors from a mix of players, including Acer, Foxconn Electronics, Pegatron Technology, Compal Electronics and Inventec Appliances, are expected to hit the market starting in fourth-quarter 2009, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

Acer is believed to have developed both ARM- and Android-based smartbooks which it is likely to unveil in the fourth quarter, the sources indicated.

Asustek noted that market demand for ARM-based smartbooks is still not strong enough and so it will not launch products until November or December at the earliest.
