Ballmer 'surprised' as Yahoo shares tumble

PCRetail Writes: "Yahoo gets 88 percent of the revenue," states Microsoft CEO

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said he was surprised by the market's negative reaction to yesterday's landmark agreement between the company and Yahoo.

Both groups are partnering together in a new war against Google's search engine supremacy. Yahoo's website will now be powered by Microsoft's Bing search engine tech, while Yahoo will now act as the advertising sales team for both companies' premium search advertisers.

And yet Yahoo shares fell 12 percent yesterday following the announcement. "Yahoo gets 88 percent of the revenue," said Ballmer during the company's analyst day in Washington. "I was kind of surprised by market reaction."

Nobody wants to be involved with anything dealing with Yahoo now that Microsoft will be there. Google is much better anyways.

I agree.

What happens when Microsoft touches something they want? It turns to sh!t.

Lionhead Studios, RARE aren't making their quality games like they use to.

Bungie abandoned ship and Ensemble picked up the pieces just to dissolve.

The other first and second parties either quit or dissolved into something else.

Surprising, isn't it, Mr. Ballmer?

Rare and lion head make good games .

This is my opinion though . Bungie on other hand has made amazing games with Microsoft`s Halo team .

Also ensemble broke up to 3 different companies .

LOL I don't know why but that just made me crack up laughing.

Ballmer's not the kind of guy who could take a hint is he?

Has anyone here tried that "Bing search engine tech"?

It sucks.

Google FTW

They advertise the hell out of it lately. Interestingly without mentioning Microsoft much. Just at the commercial I saw, they stick the Microsoft sticker on very shortly before it ends on the bottom corner. Didn't even recognize that the first time. But not sure what's so special about it. Tries to be too fancy, IMO. Google (and especially google maps with its integrated search engine) is it for me.

IT shouldn't surprise anyone, since just about everything that MS gets their hands on is shut down, its only time before Yahoo sells out 100% to MS and 5 years later is closed down.

RealityCheck5375d ago

I agree but not because it is MS, it is like that whenever a desperate deal like that is made. Basically Yahoo is admitting that they lost their edge and have no idea or motivation to recover on their own. They are done for, the only thing left to guess is when. 2 years would be my guess but 5 as you mentioned is possible if it is a slow death.

Buckshot Roulette (PC) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "Ultimately, Buckshot Roulette is a fun little distraction that the former stats teacher in me wishes had been fleshed out just a touch more. There’s enough content here to entertain for an hour or so, and while it won’t be the best hour of gameplay you experience this year, it’ll probably be one of the more memorable. Give it a try, and support the developer (Mike Klubnika), so that he can make a sequel where you play Poker against a horrifically toothy version of Clifford the Big Red Dog."

Wanted: Dead VR is Amazing (UEVR Mod from PrayDog)

CG writes: We put Solei’s action game into VR using Praydog’s UEVR mod for a really neat third-person Wanted: Dead VR game. What’s great is that it just works with no tweaking required, other than perhaps renaming the OpenVR folder if it fails to inject. The experience is great as a gamepad, third-person action game. Due to the nature of the gameplay, you need to be able to see enemies who sneak up behind you, so the third-person view is perfect for this.
