How are the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 performing against themselves and each other when compared to previous years? VGChartz shows data representing the global sales through to consumers, and change in sales performance, of each of the three home consoles over comparable periods during 2007, 2008 and 2009. They also show the marketshare for each of the consoles over the same periods.
This could be fun as they make great tables. Go big or go extinct. Prime your senses for a neural handshake and step into the cockpit of a Jaeger. It is on you to cancel the apocalypse when Pacific Rim Pinball comes to Pinball FX on May 16.
Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.
Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."
Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.
2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.
Very interesting stuff right here.
"The 360 continues its trend of improving year on year since launch. The improvement in performance has been reducing over the last few months however and now stands at approximately 20% up year on year for the year to date. The late 2008 price cut continues to have an impact well into 2009."
"The Wii and the PS3 have had a similar performance, in percentage terms, this year. Both started the year roughly flat compared to 2008 but have declined slowly but surely as the year has moved on. It is interesting to note that this is the first year since launch that the Wii has been below 50% market share."
a financial news site, http://247wallst.com/, asked the question, why is microsoft in the devices market anyway?
Here is a quote from the article:
Microsoft’s “appendix”, its devices business, which is dominated by its Xbox products, lost $130 million. Revenue at the division dropped from $1.59 billion to $1.19 billion, which raises the question, once again, of why Microsoft is in the device business at all.
the truth is the xbox is like the $300 million seinfeld ads. While the xbox is selling well, their profit dropped by its marketing expenses (including the money spent on exclusivity etc)
here is another one from ars:
Online services were brutalized, with the operating loss widening to $730 million. That's up from $575 million last quarter, and a 50 percent increase of the loss seen last year. Ads are way down, with the possible exception of Microsoft's own campaign for Bing, and the impact was obvious. Entertainment was down by a quarter in revenue terms, and lost about $130 million, about $100 million worse than last quarter. Console sales were up, but discounts and promotions meant that those Xboxes earned less for Microsoft. In news that will shock no one, the Zune continued to struggle.

the way it looks if microsoft continues to cut prices, make deals, pay for exclusivity, over market.. they will bleed even more.
Good to see the 360 up year-on-year.But the thing is as long as this recession continues, the sales increases will bottom out and eventually drop.So lets hope this recession comes to and end soon because too many companies have gone under and too many jobs have been lost.
You do realize that the ED division made a profit for the fiscal year right? That would be 2 years in a row. It will only go up from here.
So according to this information, the PS3 did better the first half of this year than the 360 did the first half of last year. I don't recall there being any "360 is failing" articles, so can we please cut it out the with "PS3 is failing" articles now? Thanks.
