Further proving, if you release a good game at a good price, people will buy it.

Serjikal_Strike5541d ago

but lets hope that they dont charge for the upcoming add-on content/maps

osu22duke5541d ago

this does not prove that the rise of download only games have begun. the file for this game was idk like 500 mb? and cost $15. theres a big difference between that and a $60 game that can range from 7 GB (360) to 50 GB (ps3). this is an arcade game with MP only. nothing more. if devs started releasing all of their game to the specs of BF id be pretty angry

nycredude5541d ago

I played the demo and had alot of fun. But it is basically a downloadable version of Bad Company MP. Why pay again for what I have already..

I'll stick to Warhawk as I think it's more fun.

Odion5541d ago

No nycredude its not a downloadable version of the BF:BC MP, its a continuation of BF1942, a game that came out long before BC.

FamilyGuy5541d ago

I knew this game would sell like crazy when i first saw the trailer and that i'd be one of those cheap online store games.

Excalibur5541d ago

and have enjoyed every min of it.

BlackTar1875541d ago

Ive played every BF game except for road to rome and i have to say besides sharing FPS and the battlefield name this and BC are so very far apart to me. and a couple of people i play with even BC conquest has a different feel and presence then any ther BF conquest mode

evrfighter5541d ago

You know someone's missed out on a great gaming experience when he has never heard of bf1942...

Socomer 19795541d ago

It beat socom confrontation, final fantasy & burnout paradise ?

Socomer 19795541d ago

I got everything warhawk and socom confrontation. I beat the crap out of bad company too and online was pretty easy for me to be succesful. Im totaly over bad company but the price of 1943 is very tempting. Gotta play more warhawk since i bought all of its expansions and i have like zero trophies for it.

Odion5541d ago

I've always held the opinion that if you really want to make your money back on video games you sell them at 25 dollars instead of 60.

I would be WAY more willing to buy games if they were less then half the cost they are now.

9 million sales at 25 is def better then 2 million at 60

BlackTar1875541d ago

But 9million vs 2 million is a very wide gap.

This game is great but its 15 for a reason this is not some full game of any sorts this was a game that did not need any real re working not much content($15) and i do play this all day long but it is not a full exp. by any account fun yes but lacking yes and thats becasue its 15 i agree though make games cheaper but not at the sacrafice of content to please people who cant apprciate the 1000's of hrs and hard work buy people to buy a $60 game.

I know what you mean though i just dont agree with your math as if a $60 game is keeping 7million people from buying it is what im getting at.

Odion5541d ago

Think about it, its really easy to go to a movie once a week, everyweek, but people don't have 60 and in places like Canada/Aus/UK 70-100 to drop on a game. I know I've rent a lot more games now that i would otherwise buy because its just not in my budget.

Now at 20 I would easly buy a game every month

BlackTar1875541d ago

Im just saying at selling a game for $20 as opposed to $60 is not gonna turn that high of number of people to buy a game a 2/3 of the people. now in a perfect world i would like that but unfort. i also don't believe in selling the people who work on these games short sure you would get more purchases from a good $20 game but im not sure that would generate enough people to offset the cost. BF1943 works because there really wasn't anything major they had to do. But a $60 game has people in the hundred s who work on it some times and 1000's of hours and to short that part by selling it cheaper just doesn't work. Like i said im not attacking you or anything and i completely understand what your saying. Im just saying that i love the idea and would love that to happen but i just don't see how its feesable to something other then stuff like this which is missing allot of stuff(still fun)and content. nice convo though look people can talk with out yelling at each other on this site.

Bubbles up

clintos595541d ago

EA needs to fix the servers. Ive had a few disconnected problems ever since unlocking the 43 million kills. It doesnt happen all the time but its happened a few times ever since we unlocked the new plane map.

The game is fun still & i finally hit the 2,100+ kills & almost a Rank 40. The game is alot of fun for the price. Well worth the money.

Battlefield Legacy - Sunsetting Announcement

EA: "As we close in on 15 years since the release of Battlefield 1943, and Bad Company™ 1 & 2, we are announcing that their journey is coming to an end."

darthv72552d ago

This reminds me... I have ME on my PS3 hdd. Never really played it, but it was free.

XiNatsuDragnel552d ago

Digital future ppl is good they say nope imo

Eidolon552d ago

And it still says nothing about being able to downloaded even when it's off the storefront, that's a huge ouchie for some who somehow still have it in their backlog...

Shane Kim552d ago

Dont make it an issue when it's not. If you haven't played it in 15 years, chances are you'll never play it.

isarai552d ago

That all digital future sure looks great!

zidane1341552d ago (Edited 552d ago )

Online game servers shut off eventually all the time. Doesn’t matter if you have the disc or not. Even if you have the disc, it’ll be just paperweight unless the game lets you connect directly to a friend or LAN play.

isarai552d ago (Edited 552d ago )

Read the article bro. They are delisting the games, including mirrors edge which is an offline game. Online servers i can understand, not being able to buy/download the games anymore? Completely separate issue, especially seeing as how some these games had lengthy sp campaigns and not just mp.

zidane1341552d ago

@israrai, you can still buy the disc for less then 10$. Hardly a loss.

TheEnigma313552d ago

You shouldn't have to buy the disc, that's the issue.

OhReginald551d ago (Edited 551d ago )

Some brilliant minds created servers to keep these old online games alive. A lot of ps2 and ps3 games that had there servers shut down a long time ago have been restored by fans to keep it going. Warhawk, killzone 2, socom 2/ confrontation, resident evil outbreak series, etc.

DankSinatra551d ago

The disc still exist. I don’t understand the issue. You guys are upset about that “all digital future” yet these games are not “digital only”. Hell digital only is a minority in the gaming world and so far we haven’t moved into it, the only digital only games are games as a service or online only games, which end up failing in the end.

This is no different than a store that stops selling old games, just go and buy a copy somewhere else. So which is it, you hate all digital or you like it? Make up your mind.

isarai551d ago

Talk about missing the point entirely. I'm not going to sit here and explain it to you, figure it out.

DankSinatra551d ago

Talk about whining about something and not wanting to explain from an off handed sarcastic original comment.

I got the point just fine. You’re literally complaining about something that has an easy alternative to it.

ManMarmalade551d ago

I don't think you got the point

DankSinatra551d ago (Edited 551d ago )

@ManMarmalade

No I got it, it has to do with the push towards a future of all digital and reprocussions of losing games. Something I already stayed that hasn’t happened nor is it large enough right now to cause any issues as the games that are all digital are online only to begin with or make up the minority of games

So I’ll say it again, the disc still exists for these games that are over a decade old and can still be played easily. You guys are contradicting the whole “we don’t want a digital only future” crying when the dude I originally responded to stated:

“Read the article bro. They are delisting the games, including mirrors edge which is an offline game. Online servers i can understand, not being able to buy/download the games anymore? Completely separate issue, especially seeing as how some these games had lengthy sp campaigns and not just mp.“

So again, which is it? Do you hate all digital or do you want it?

Inverno552d ago

On PC I don't think it's much of a problem but I'm sad to see BF43 being shut down. I haven't played it in a while since it's stuck on PS3, but i preferred it way more over BF3. It was the lack of invisible barriers which made it better for me.

badz149552d ago

BFBC2 was still the best overall package offered by the franchise so far IMO

porkChop552d ago

Absolutely. BC2 was such a great game. It's a shame we never got BC3.

P_Bomb551d ago

I had a great run on Bad Company 2. Pound for pound, as solid a BF package as there’s been.

InUrFoxHole552d ago

Does anyone play the last BF anymore? I searched crossplay servers and it was 20 people the most on all the servers? Can never find a game

SonyStyled552d ago

The last BC you mean? I was still able to find 10v10 on ps3 2 years ago on NA servers during the evenings. I have all the free and paid dlc installed, but there want any matches in the Vietnam dlc.

Looking back to 2009 and the war over the Pacific with Battlefield 1943

Carlos writes: "In terms of Battlefield, the past 10 years has seen the series go from strength to strength, and whilst there will be many who would argue that the hit and miss adventures of Battlefield: Hardline didn’t quite live up to the excitement that the series is so well known for, each and every entry has at least provided plenty to shout about. Should you look back far enough and manage to take your mind away from Battlefield: Bad Company 2, what you may well remember is a small, online-only multiplayer adventure that lit up the Xbox Live Arcade – Battlefield 1943."

Great little game but yet again, no offline bots so once the servers went, so did all its players. What a waste.
