Videogamer: Splosion Man Review

Downloadable games can generally try something a bit different to the norm without the risk of spending millions of pounds and not getting that investment back. 'Splosion Man is such a game. A puzzle-platformer at heart, Twisted Pixel must have been drinking a lot of energy drinks when the core gameplay mechanic behind the game first made its way to a white board. You play as a slightly mad red man with the ability to make himself explode, in turn taking out everything in close vicinity. It's quite possibly the strangest idea for a game we've ever seen, but it works extremely well.

I've got points ready for this. I loved The Maw and this looks to have the same charm. Hopefully it has some replay value too!

It kind of reminds me of Voodoo Vince on the original Xbox (that one slipped past some people). But to be honest, I am more looking foward to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Shadow Complex! I didn't try out the Maw yet, but you got me wondering now, so i'll probably download the demo.

I loved Voodoo Vince. I played it from start to finish and enjoyed every moment of it. I said at the end "I'll play that again someday!" and it's still sitting on my shelf waiting.

The Maw is incredibly simplistic and has virtually no replay value but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

I played Marvel versus Capcom 2 to death on the Dreamcast. It was a big reason I bought the console. It's also the reason I don't have any interest at all in this re-release!

Another winner for XBL. So many great games.

The Maw was totally overrated. However, I wish they would bring Conker on xbox originals.

Perjoss5392d ago

originals is no more, it was not a very good idea in the first place seeing as most people only have a 20g or 60g hard drive.

Found this on it's XBL game page:

Yeah that’s a good one. I would also add condemned criminal origins. Or was that on PC as well?

NecrumOddBoy2152d ago

I don't really know if it matters in regards to this article. Halo Combat Evolved was on PC. Conker was a remake of N64 game. In Forza Horizon is also a PC game.

DivineAssault 2152d ago

I miss the days when they got games like this.. Whenever MS gets their head out of their a$$ ill buy their console again..

GamesMaster19822152d ago

Microsoft sure does not make games like they used to, Shame really.
