Why the Nintendo Wii is Declining in Hardware Sales

Associated Content: "Launching in late 2006, the Nintendo Wii is the fastest-selling video game system ever. The success came as a big surprise to many as they weren't expecting Nintendo to rise from the ashes of their previous under-performing video game systems (Nintendo 64 and Gamecube). Despite being called a temporary fad, the Nintendo Wii just kept on selling and selling throughout the years. Recently, however, the popular system has hit a snag on the road as hardware sales has slowed significantly."

I must admit... that picture got me to click. ^_^

Anyways, the Wii will catch a lot of sales upon Monster Hunter 3's release.

Is it a fad? We'll see if games help raise its long term sales back up.

Anyhow....I think the Wii has tapped what it was going to, at the price-point.

No doubt the big surges will come at the end of the year. With the economy , I do not expect huge spikes unless there is huge cuts.

Jaces3472d ago

Cause everyone already has one by now I'm sure. ;D

Personally I find that the wii fad has died down and become the norm to most people.

No, that's just the shadow of her arms on her legs.

Yup, a price cut will help raise long-term sales.

@jaces
Although you were figuratively speaking, there are still a lot of people who don't have a Wii. The PS2 was able to sell 140 million units... and its not even that casual friendly.

Seeing how casual the Wii is, it DEFINITELY should sell more than 140 million units in even less time than the PS2.

Bewbs are for clicking if you cant touch. I hope they come up with something that's more combat oriented with the players being able to fight like they showed with the PS3 motion controller.

But then again i doubt i'll be putting any effort in jumping around and swinging my arms in front of my tv. Too much hassle.

i'm sure microsoft or sony would love to be shifting wii type sales figures month in month out.

i can easily see them shifting another 30mil consoles before this gen is finished. whilst all my wii does is collect dust.

looks like all the children of the world have a wii now

Hopefully people are catching on. There's no doubt that the Wii is a really fun gaming console, and I have a blast playing it with friends, but really isn't even close to being a jack of all trades. It's uncomfortable to play at times and it doesn't get all of the solid multiplatform titles.

Nintendo still whoops the competition, combined on occasion.
