With the explosion of social networking sites such as Facebook, Myspace etc. Some gaming companies have wormed their way onto the scene, in the form of simple, addictive games, playable on your browser.
A main example of this is Zynga. A company founded in 2007, and relatively unknown until Mafia Wars, have managed to create a gaming empire. Something the gaming industry need to be aware of. Proof of this is Bing Gordon, ex Electronic Arts Chief Creative Officer, who joined Zynga in 2008.
