Next Gen Games 'Beautiful But Brainless'

The increasingly realistic graphics rendered in next generation games are set to highlight deficiencies in artificial intelligence, according to one leading AI researcher.

While next generation games may look stunning, artificial intelligence hasn't come along in leaps and bounds over the past decade. Speaking in The Guardian newspaper yesterday, Steve Grand OBE, AI researcher and creator of renowned AI simulation game Creatures, based on an evolutionary concept where players must look after and teach pets the basics of life, said he feels the industry has a lot of work to do in the field of AI.
