Midway Games to close San Diego studio

Chicago Tribune writes: "Chicago-based video-game maker Midway Games plans to shut down its studio in San Diego because it was not included in Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.'s $33 million purchase of most of the company's assets.

In a Wednesday regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Midway said it notified the employees of its San Diego studio on July 1 that the facility would be closed. The 60-day notification was in compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The SEC filing didn't detail the number of employees in San Diego, but said they represent about 20 percent of Midway's global workforce."

Sucks for those losing their jobs, I hope things work out for them ASAP.

These guys have been with Midway since the start, it is extremely unfortunate to hear they are shutting down, the end of an era. :(
