President of Sony Italia steps down

President of Sony Computer Entertainment Italia, Corrado Buonanno, has officially left the company after 12 years.

A spokesperson for SCEE confirmed that the executive had left due to normal business and not as a result of today's earlier revelations that the European division was due to cut 160 jobs across the region.

"Corrado has been with Sony Computer Entertainment Italia for 12 years in which time we have seen PlayStation become a symbol for Italian people," commented David Reeves, chairman of SCEE.

First there are job cuts in the midst of "the greatest launch ever known to man", now more people stepping down. Anyway it must be a good thing. I wonder whats going on behind the closed curtains? This all seems to be related to the Games division...

Wasn't it in Italy where the PS3 went on sale to the public a few days earlier than it was supposed to?
Of course, that's not something he could really control, but I guess he's ultimately responsible for the fiasco there. That might be why he is "stepping down".

...They're just following suit of the Italian government's usual customary practices.

Stay tuned for next week, where the Sony's newly-appointed president is expected to step down as a result of embezzlement charges and accusations of female groping. ;P
