SSF: A Nearly-Perfect Sega Saturn Emulator

It's no secret that many developer interviews in the mid-90's cited the Sega Saturn as a very complex and challenging machine to work with. In fact, it's one of the key factors which led to machine's downfall in the face of the Sony Playstation. Developers struggled to produce the experiences they envisioned within the time-frame allotted. If such a console were so hard for experienced, professional programmers to work with, the notion of emulating the machine must strike fear and doubt into the hearts of all who dream it.

I have to say that if it works, this will be awesome for me. I've had to buy a backup Saturn to ensure that I can play the games for the indefinite future. Now that there's a working emulator, this is big news for me as an emulation fan.

Pardon my reply here, it works! I just loaded Shining the Holy Ark to my optical drive and it works! It worked as well as my Sega Saturn on my PC. It really does work! This is awesome news for us emulation fans, finally a Saturn emulator that works! Major props to the people that made SSF work! It really does work, although I had to use my actual game disc. Who cares, it really did work, and that's good enough for me. Well done! Finally, an emulation option where you can play Saturn games where it does work well.

when i first found it online. They just added more features since (and more games support of course).

It's awesome as I still have my sega saturn disks, mostly japanese games though.

Yeah that's pretty cool indeed man. I wish I'd been able to find it that long ago, I've been wanting a working emulator for years. Oh well, kudos to Wiimaniac for providing me with this information. Best news I've had in a long time. :D

that game was beautiful

You should play Panzer Dragoon Zwei. It's still the best in the franchise, in my opinion.

I've been using SSF for 2 years. Outstanding emulator, easy to use and highly compatible.
