Focus Home Interactive revealed that KievGames' fantasy-style hack'n slash RPG Silverfall is in development for the PSP, scheduled for later this year. The game will support 2 player co-op via WiFi or square off against 3 other players in the Arena mode.
Silverfall is a fantasy RPG set in a world of magic, machines & mayhem, the choices you make during the game take you along the path of nature or technology. Known in Germany as Guardian of the Elements, the addon features an updated engine with improved gfx/performance, 2 new races, over 50 new pieces of armor, 42 new weapons, 20 new maps, and optimized multiplayer.
Monte Cristo explains some of the challenges in porting the attractive PC RPG to the Sony handheld.
"Porting a game might sound not very exciting to a developer's ears. However, as the title of this article hints, in a tribute to Sid Meier's definition of gameplay, the process can be fun.
In May 2006, Monte Cristo decided to port the PC action RPG Silverfall to the PSP. Of course, there would be technical challenges. For example, one single character texture of the PC version equals the total memory we have on the PSP! But there would be design challenges too."
