A little more than seven years ago, Irrational Games (which eventually became 2K Boston) released a strategy RPG that captured the imagination of comic book fans and modders everywhere. Freedom Force (and its sequel, Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich) embodied the classic Silver Age of Comics where superheroes faced off against mysterious enemies and frequently triumphed over incredible odds in the name of justice. The series was critically acclaimed, and fans eagerly awaited a third chapter of the franchise thanks to the cliffhanger ending of The Third Reich.
Recently, these two titles were released on Steam individually and as a Freedom Force pack, allowing new fans to purchase and battle, as Minuteman would say, "For Freedom!" IGN had a chance to interview members of the Freedom Force team about their two games: Ken Levine, the executive producer and writer for both games; Rob Waters, lead concept artist and art director for both games; Dorian Hart, co-lead designer on The Third Reich and voice actor for the games; Alex Kay, co-lead designer on The Third Reich and voice actor for the games; and Joe McDonagh, 2K Boston's director of operations.
