Xbox 360 beta taking place, but what's being tested?

Console Monster writes: "If a certain achievement page appearing on a number of Xbox.com profiles are anything to go by, it seems an Xbox 360 beta may be taking place. At the time of writing, four profiles (who won't be identified to prevent them from receiving an inbox full of "OMG wut iz dis beta!?!?") have the beta appearing on their recent games. Whilst the achievement page for the beta doesn't give much away, it's the achievement image which appears to be the more interesting.

Designed in a style we are very much used to, possibly the most interesting thing about the image is the "09" positioned at the bottom right hand corner. An Xbox 360 beta in 2009, four years on from the console's release? What is Microsoft up to? Are they testing out the new social networking features on the Xbox 360 or is it something bigger...?"

Hrm, I am not familiar with that B logo at all so I have no idea what this could be. Interesting indeed.

Wriggy5416d ago

@GiantEnemyCrab: The logo is the symbol used for beta. :)

chaosatom5416d ago

i'll give it a few hours before we find out what it is.

I've seen this B logo some where in real life, anyone know what it is? Is it some Greek letter? I know it;s something like that.

It's the awkward silence right after someone's attempt to be witty and fail miserably. Why don't you take it in the open zone where you might find an audience with simpler minds. ------->

@1.2: lol, well I have been in a few beta's both open and closed on the 360 and never seen or received an achievement like that.

I was thinking it was from the Bandaroo(sp) Music Festival they look awfully familiar.

@1.5: Fail.

AuToFiRE5416d ago

the greek B you speak of is called "Beta"

edhe5416d ago

Probably NXE '09
If i remember righty, NXE '08 had it's own cheev oor something.

You may have read something german, because the Beta symbol resembles a symbol which is sometimes used in german to replace two consecutive S's.

You have this beta?

Are we going to have to stick your head in a vice to get you to spill the beans????!!!! =)

Can you give us any clues, hints or can you talk about it at all?

Is it something to even get excited about?

I need answers!!!! lol

GiantEnemyCrab5416d ago (Edited 5416d ago )

or maybe you're just FoS. ;)

I also have this beta which is stored in my nonexistent Xbox 360.

TheIneffableBob5416d ago

The new features unveiled at E3.

SaberEdge5416d ago

Hmm, well we know that the Halo Reach beta will be coming with Halo 3 ODST and there is also the upcoming Facebook and Twitter functionality, so my guess is that it probably has something to do with one of those.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos4h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

Furesis20h ago

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

anast19h ago

It's worth a play through today.
