Kotaku: New "Sega" Handheld Coming

The days of Sega manufacturing hardware are over. But in these days of licensed technology and retro appreciation, Sega hardware still lives on, in this case with the return of the Nomad, Sega's handheld Genesis.

50$ ...not bad...not bad at all.

That entry price is a good thing for a new handheld.

Wonder if there might be new games on it, rather than just retro games. That would be cool; new 8-bit games :)

16 bit.

I wanted a Nomad badly when it was new, because it doubled as a Genesis for the TV as well.

You're better off buying a PSP, hacking it, and loading it up with roms.

dericb115417d ago

Yeah and spend three time as much and use "illegal" roms. I have a PSP and won't be getting this but no point in hating on something new because it doesn't offer what you think is good.

I partially agree with Kigmal. PSP's custom firmware unlocks quite an untapped potential. In this case possibility to run huge amount of emulators.
I already play oldies more often than PSP games, and conveniently I can carry in my pocket dozens of old arcade games and play it straight of the stick.
But Nomad may be a good option for people who're afraid of PSP CF, don't know how, don't want to or cause of any possible reason.

You think UMDs are clunky? Try a whole Genesis cartridge. That and the Nomad had a 30 minute battery time.

I knew these guys would come back...I just KNEW IT!..not is it good? DO they have a chance? =S...thats another story entirely

Then again this is some sort of neiche...50$ for a retro game handheld...not bad =)

Brought back memories of playing Warbirds on a Atari Lynx II I had years ago.
That was a fun game.
