Gran Turismo 5 publicity begins with Citroën

Gran Turismo 5 publicity starts with Citroën and Polyphony Digital's supercar.

Racing London in Gran Turismo 5 was a fantasy we thought we'd never be able to enjoy in real-life. That's somewhat true, but today Citroën offered their stunning concept supercar, the GTbyCITROËN, to the city an recreated the circuit featured in Gran Turismo 5.

You can find a couple of photographs of the car's tour of London below, but be warned, one photo is not as it seems.

[UPDATE] - Lets make this a little more interesting. We'll send out a selection of goodies to two commenters who correctly identify which photographs are real and which are from Gran Turismo 5.

Each prize will include a copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for the PSP, a Hellboy plastic model, Volume 1 of The Slayers on DVD, Huntik: Trading Card Game DVD, and a Darksiders art card signed by a member of the development team! Remember to click on the images to take a closer look. Terms and conditions below.*

Damn, the game looks better then the picture they took in real life. Wow.

techie3803d ago

How can you tell then?

ExgamerLegends23803d ago

I was about to ask if those pics were real or GT5 screens. Which one's are real?

peeps3803d ago

the second 1 is from GT5

Foxgod3803d ago (Edited 3803d ago )

first photo real, second game, third real, fourth game.

Shadow Flare3803d ago

That's a stunning looking car

doctorstrange3803d ago (Edited 3803d ago )

the first and 3rd are real, 2nd and 4th are incredible, but fake

hay3803d ago (Edited 3803d ago )

I may be wrong but... I first have done it the hard way. Take a closer look at the car and people. People look more natural, it was always easy to differ GT from real pictures by human models. They're a bit more sterile than natural, clothing isn't photorealistic in GT. Also if you look at car picture 1 and 3 have some blurity that may be a result of camera photo. Pics 2 and 4 are different. Details are sharp.

But then I noticed easier way to differ them. Pics 1 and 3 lack barriers that are visible on 2 and 4 and aren't actually looking like pictures taken during a race or demo. 1 and 3 look more like taken during everyday life, which was the only environment for the campaign at the time of making it. Event is in few weeks and I'm not sure they'll throw some concrete blocks on the streets.

Here you go. A guick guide how to differ Gran Turismo from real life.

techie3803d ago

Lol they've added a bunch more. I'm a little confused now.

marinelife93803d ago

Wow! they have that lighting engine pretty much nailed don't they?

techie3803d ago

I think that's one of the most impressive things in GT5P - it's the lighting. One of the few to actually create a realistic lighting system. I think Forza 3 has shown quite a big improvement in that area over Forza 2 though.

ExgamerLegends23803d ago

Real life better uprade its graphics engine soon.

Hey they added new pics.

xwabbit3802d ago

more pics have been uploaded

Syronicus3802d ago

That's all well and good but let's keep the discussion about GT5 and leave the Forza talk out of it. Too many fights break out over Forza 3 versus GT5 that it would be a shame to ruin a good thread like this.

The lighting in GT5 is amazing and those pics are simple eye candy to take in. Cannot wait to play this game.

gaffyh3802d ago

I better win deep. And this is extremely hard to tell which one is real and which one is game. But I think I figured them all out.

Boody-Bandit3802d ago (Edited 3802d ago )

which pictures are real ones vs GT5?
I have been staring at these for 5 minutes and they all look real to me. Is this site pulling a fast one or are some of those pictures actually from GT5?

After seeing the update I guess my question was answered. Some are GT5.
I am guessing 2,5,6 and 8 are GT5.

Boody-Bandit3802d ago

2,4,5,6 and 8?
Either way that's pretty freaking awesome that it is this hard to tell.

Isis063802d ago

I think your right...
those pics are to real : P

marinelife93802d ago

You have to look at the nuances like the barriers and rumble strips to tell the difference. If those things were cropped out of the pics I think I'd guess wrong.

2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 are from GT5.

The graphics are very good, but zebra and road blockers make it easy to spot a "course" from normal street.

zayne3802d ago

The real life pics have number plates... DUH!!! The GT5 ones you can't see much of the number plate... :D GAME LOOKS AMAZING!!! Can;t wait to play!!!

The_Count3802d ago (Edited 3802d ago )

I can't wait to count the cars.

Ah ah ah.

and also this car is fuel cell powered and has 750 bhp. That's alot of counting it also generates energy when slowing to give the battery energy.

Ah ah ah.

shadow27973802d ago

Personally I'm not impressed, it's very easy to tell the difference. Maybe it's the added damage modeling, but I think Prologue looks better.

Still it's a pretty cool little contest. I entered even though I have no desire to own any of those prizes. Haha

Kleptic3802d ago

I think 4 and 6 are both in game...but those are easily some of the most impressive real time graphics, in a photo-realistic sense...I have ever come across...

some are obvious...why do most of the game shots all involve the car moving?...that is usually a give away, because the motion blur seems far less 'analog' like it does with an expensive camera...

had all these shots been of the car parked would probably be a lot more difficult...

still though...the in game motion shots are every bit as impressive as those pre-rendered concept shots you see in mags like Road and Track...where they release a artist's speculation of an upcoming Ferrari or looks hyper real in a can't find exactly what it is that looks fake, but you know overall its not quite reality...that is an awesome thing for car guys...

and yeah...leave the Forza 3 stuff out of it...Forza 3 has come a LONG way over Forza 2...great for the 360 guys...and Forza 3 now has incredible in car views and everything too...I just want to see more of GT5...barely anything has really been shown...but they did confirm that E3 teaser to be in PD is definitely at the wheel of a visual beast as well...

xwabbit3802d ago

I say the GT5 pics are... 2-4-5-6-7

TheReaper423802d ago

The virtual people and concrete road gave it away. No roads in real life looks that clean hah!

FFXNo13802d ago (Edited 3802d ago )

Check this kick ass car. This is a concept car from BMW with the help of the creators of Forza motor sport. This is the "definite car of this generation". Gran Turismo sux, Viva la Forza :p

phosphor1123802d ago

It's funny as hell, because I was like "Donkey sh!t, they didn't make a car." Then I clicked the link and lawled.

barom3802d ago

I'm pretty sure it's picture 8 but it's funny how we aren't all agreeing. Just goes to show how realistic the game looks.

jay23803d ago

See you at goodwood maybe!

RowSand3803d ago

so we have first ever screen shot of gran turismo 5? i havent seen yet the pictures still loading.

techie3803d ago

Think so - they're just polishing the GT5P engine - and this track is already in GT5P. So you could say it's just GT5P I gueeesss...still they are new, so I'd say they are GT5.
