In the face of over 30,000 whiny "fans" who've formed the L4D2 Boycott group, the real Valve fans are beginning to fight back with their creation of the L4D2 Enthusiasts group.
it's gone from giving the general public the bird to giving the public a thumbs-up... I think I liked the middle-finger better.
Heh yeah their logo definitely isn't as good but their stance is at least logical. The message is "just wait and see. This is a great bunch of game designers. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt, here."
the idiots that start these boycotts dont realize that they are actually giving away free hype and publicity to the game they are hating on.
I bet valve people started this... or a bunch of ignorant 12 yr old kids that dont understand why people are pissed. They must be bored of L4D all ready... i mean, 4 campaigns and all.
I'm not a supporter for rip off! L4D is as short a game as it can get was promised to have more contents yet they came with L4D2 already? if L4D2 is going to use a new engine, yeah maybe that's ok but it will be the same fvcking game using the same fvcking ancient engine!! I'm no supporter for scamcom and I'm no supporter for scamvalve either! who ever support these scam business is STUPID! at least show some dignity as a CONSUMER not bow to every single fvcking scam just because you're a FAN!
The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott is a group of individuals who have pledged to boycott Valve's upcoming release of Left 4 Dead 2 on November 17th, 2009. We have assembled a manifesto outlining the basic concensus of many members of our community. (Note: this manifesto is a new version, which we have recently posted to keep our manifesto in line with the middle ground of our members. This is the correct group for the boycott) WE RECOGNIZE: -Valve is a company with financial needs and cannot be expected to survive without the release of new games. -Judgment cannot be passed on the quality of Left 4 Dead 2 until its release. -Left 4 Dead was, and is, a quality game which deserves the praise of the entire gaming community. WE ARE COMMITTED: -To holding Valve to its promise of free, continual updates to Left 4 Dead in order to build and sustain the community. -To keeping the Left 4 Dead community together in order to improve the quality of online gaming. -To supporting the model of continual updates Valve has set forth with its staple products like Team Fortress 2. WE BELIEVE: -The release of Left 4 Dead 2 as a stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming. -The announced content of Left 4 Dead 2 does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and should instead become updates (free or otherwise) for Left 4 Dead. -Left 4 Dead has not yet received the support and content which Valve has repeatedly stated will be delivered. -The release of Left 4 Dead 2 will make Left 4 Dead an obsolete purchase and inferior piece of software after only one year since release. WE REQUEST: -That Valve honor its commitment to release ongoing periodic content for Left 4 Dead. -That Left 4 Dead 2 not be released as a stand-alone, full-priced sequel but as either a free update to Left 4 Dead or an expansion with full compatibility with basic Left 4 Dead owners. -That Left 4 Dead owners be given discounts for Left 4 Dead 2, should it be released as premium content. Therefore, we - the members of this Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott - promise to abstain from the purchase of Left 4 Dead 2 until our requests are addressed.
Boycotting a game is just stupid imo. I've played left 4 dead 2. It was fun.
I agree, Cain. I got dozens of hours of great fun from the first game, so I'm more than happy to pay for more. I don't DESERVE free content: I'm happy they're just making more of an awesome game. And it'll be even better this time, as well!
If you purchased a game where the developers promise future updates but that promised content is never released, then by all means, you have every right to feel cheated, every right to complain, and every right to boycott that developer's products. Many of those 30,000 individuals involved in the L4D2 boycott are there for well-grounded reasons. It's obvious that you haven't read their manifesto. Maybe you should check out their steam group? They are hardly a group of unappreciative whiners. http://steamcommunity.com/g...
I like how you can only be a "real fan" if you agree with everything a company does. Stupid.
The definition of a fan, according to dictionary.com: Fan: /fæn/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [fan] Show IPA –noun an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.: a baseball fan; a great fan of Charlie Chaplin. Origin: 1885–90, Americanism; short for fanatic Synonyms: supporter, enthusiast, partisan, booster, addict. The guys giving Valve hell after one trailer and a promise that they'd still support Left 4 Dead 1 FOR FREE are in no way, shape, or form fans.
we can be friends, but if i ever do something you dont agree with. i will cut you off, and call you a retard. :)
"enthusiastic devotee, follower,"? I don't know a single intelligent person who would want to be described in that way. You can admire something and disagree with it at the same time but you would have to be older than 12 to realize this fact.
so if youre a fan of someone and they pee in yor cereal will you still be a fan? :)
Right, Budgetgamer, because not wanting to give away a game they worked on for a year is exactly like peeing in my cereal. http://www.talkshoe.com/cus...
LMAO maybe not but trying to shout down another consumer who it just making their voice heard helps us how?
the point of the question was how much would you let somone shi on you before you say enough. im talking outside of valve to you. whats your limit? :)
Budget, just ignore this guy. Trolls like this are beyond recovery.
all of Gabes relatives
L4D2 will be Amazing!!
lol that interview spoof was hilarious.
hahaha good one
Am I the only one who is tired of hearing about the L4Drama?
lol hitler left 4 dead spoof.
Have a medal.
People can form groups on either side of the isle and we then vote with our wallets. Im buying two copies as one is going to be a gift. P.S. I thought the videos were funny.
lol!!! this video was funny as hell man. roflmao! this is exactly how i feel about this whole situation. there are more important things to worry about than a videogame and this is coming from a gamer too. we get ripped off from the government and the irs everyday and nobody is boycotting them so piss off l4d2 haters. get a life mega nerds!
i agree. but how exactly do you boycott a government lol
this group is probably owned by someone at valve or near the valve people
lol both petition suck stop with this bullcrap. valve should just ban this groups from STEAM
This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of in the history of gaming. I can imagine 3 years from now. "In an epic battle between the L4D2 Boycotters and Valve a new groups of fans rose up...." This is some nerd SH** times 10!!!
I don't care that much since I'll probably buy it when it's $20, but the author sounds like an a hole
To anyone believing that left 4 dead 2 is bringing "new content" you better don't get to much enthusiasm. I've work in a team developing mods for valve engine and I've been developing content for valve games and mods for long and I know how hard its to make new weapons and maps, etc. You know what? Making a new game is not adding new content... Its actually changing something in the game! This won't happen with l4d2. They can add new weapons, new dozen maps but that doesn't make it a new game... they almost don't touch the coding... they stick to making new models and importing it to the old game and sell it has a new game for twice the price. Valve came to disappointing me allot with these "marketing" attitudes.
Call it what you like,im sure i'll find $50 worth of fun in it. They reused the Deloreans from the Back to the Future movies, set locales, and the cast... but i still managed to enjoy the sequels.
Do all the damage control you want but that doesn't change the fact that the first game was sparse enough on content, now you're gonna have to pay another 60$ to get a sequel. For all you people who are [email protected] by Valve, I don't hear anyone addressing the issue that they never supported the console version w/ patches, or either version w/ DLC, free or not. And I still don't understand what is so significant about this game the couldn't have just made into an expansion pack. Anyways, for those of us who don't have their mommy and daddy buy everything for them, this game is a rip off. Not to mention the way trends are adapted in the gaming industry, this sets an alarming precedent.
Come on, man. You seriously think that there were no patches for the console version? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You seriously think that Valve didn't add an entire mode into the game FOR FREE? You really think that?
Tony knows f**k all about Valve and has been spouting Sh*t since this whole thing started. He even claimed Valve have a history of not supporting their fans(obviously because they don't support the PS3). Ignore him because yes Valve added Survival Mode, the two other campaigns for Versus and patched the game. More would be nice but most other companies wouldn't give an update like that for free.
Uhh..My console version has the "Survivor" DLC and some other add ons. It was a free download. I still prefer the 4 against the AI or 4 or 4 versions, but it was nice they threw in some more content. And have already announced MORE content is coming for L4D BTW.
But the Enthusiast manifesto is no where near as well written or compelling as the Boycotters. Repeatedly calling positions "stupid" and "obnoxious" is not an intelligent way to convince people you are right.
But taking the L4D cover art and making into a one finger salute is the mature approach?
people are soo spoiled after all the free things Valve has gave fans they wanna act up and go nuts just because L4D2 is coming
I very much disagree with your stance. I am strongly against a sequel and would most definitely want this just to be DLC but I would not mind paying like $20 - $30 for the new stuff. My biggest worry with this game is that it will split the community. Some will move on to the new one feeling that it's worth the money to move on, while some will stay with the first one because they don't want to move on or just won't move on yet. If they just waited a year or two then I'm sure the division of the community won't be anywhere near as bad but splitting up the community, just a year after the first game is way too soon. Valve said that they will find some way to address this but I just wonder what this will be. I guess we'll have to wait and see. So really, no matter which game you choose to go with L4D 1 or L4D 2 there will be less people (probably more so with L4D 1). What kind of angers me is that eveyone brings up Madden and wonders why we don't get mad at that, but everyone KNOWS that a new Madden game comes out every year. I bought this game because I thought it was going to stick around for a while before a sequel came out. I was not expecting a sequel to come out a year later therefore yes I am fairly angry. I bought a game with hardly any content (yes I know they are going to keep "supporting Left 4 Dead 1"), and I stuck with it because it was fun and I was sure that there was going to be more content on the way. The survival pack was very welcome but it really only brought the game to where it at least should have been when the game first came out. I joined the boycott, but I hardly consider myself a "whiner." I made a decision with my money ($110 being that I bought both the PC and Xbox 360) to buy a game that I thought was going to last at least two years before a sequel was announced. Of course, not before getting a crap load of DLC which I would not mind paying for but I do mind paying $60 for what still to me looks like a hunk of DLC to a game that still hasn't gotten the new matchmaking and the Xbox 360 version hasn't even been patched ever since the Survival pack released. There isn't really much of a reason to release a whole new game yet when there is still a lot of stuff that needs to be done with L4D 1. And along with judging how slow Valve usually develops games (with exception to L4D 2 taking only a year), I don't really see how they will be able to manage both games at the same time (especially on the DLC side) along with developing Half Life 2: Episode Three.
I am glad this sh!t is not on PS3.. HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!
You know that this L4D2 Enthusiasts group was created by PS3 fanboys to try and get into the good graces with Valve. /sarcasm
Oh yeah we should appreciate when good developers do things to jerk around the community, that's a great idea. The people against the boycott don't really seem to understand the principle of it. Many of these people in the boycott group are Valve fans who have low tolerances to being screwed over. Of course they aren't going to give up on Valve, they want to let them know that they do NOT LIKE what they are doing in the form of grouping together. Why do you need to create a group to let a company know that they can keep doing what they are doing? Oh and I make a habit of ignoring people who like to spout the famous "they don't owe you anything" crap, again they have no clue what they are talking about.
