Microsoft has also started to build up a separate team (similar on the lines of their internal Halo team) within Microsoft Game Studios to handle high profile games that are bound for this piece of technology.
Wonder what its going to be called.... EDIT Natal Creations would be a good studio name.
How about Fatal Natal? Well this is good news... obviously Natal is going to be supported and this bodes well for the system.
fatal natal ... nice
Definitely day one buy for me.
They haven't announced many new IPs, or first party games for the X360. Yet they are making a new studio to develop games for Natel? Shouldn't Microsoft focus on making a few more good IPs for 2010, before jumping the gun? I mean, what games are we expecting for 2010? Halo Reach?
Howabout you wait until E3 2010 until you start talkingabout what comes in 2010 on the 360. So far for 2010: Alan wake, Halo reach, Mass effect 2. Obviously more will be revealed. This year we get Halo ODST, Splinter cell, Left4dead2, venetica and forza 3, and nobody saw those coming either.
Looks like MS is really serious about Natal and putting a lot of support behind it with the creation of another new studio.
also crackdown 2
Why think about 2010 when i am still thinking of the hit that fall 09 will have on my wallet with -Halo 3: ODST -L4D2 -Forza 3 + Fanatic 911 S Turbo racing wheel -Need for Speed: SHift (not so sure) -Bioshock 2 -Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 -Shadow Complex -Modern Warfare 2 -Venetica -Champion Online and Splinter cell: Conviction Lets over come the 09 influx 1st then think about 2010.Damn i feel sorry for the wallets of multi console owners.
There will be a lot of broke multi-console owners, but fatal natal wouldn't work because I'm pretty sure it's pronounced na-tal not nay-tal, or maybe I'm wrong? A good studio name would be motion studios, simple but rolls off the tongue.
Can some one seriously tell me what makes Natal so much better than the PS Eye. I've seen everything they've demoed with it, but I haven't seen anything that I don't think the PS Eye is capable of especially now since they have the 1 to 1 motion controller. Don't get me wrong Natal looks sweet, especially navigating the NXE with it, and racing in Burnout and casual games, but I have yet to see it as a the huge revelation in gaming like so many others have.
well for one....the natal has no physical device beside the person that is playing second...it looks sci-fi like, something the mainstream would go 'gaga' for third...the new sony dildo thingy...kinda looks like a pleasure device that desperate housewives use...ie 'not for gaming' truthfully though, no one knows how things will really go, just like wii...everyone hated it and dismissed it, and then it came out and sold a bazillion... NATAL is the truth!!!
This is definately good news. MS is starting to realise that they desperately need more first parties and this is a better way to do it because when you buy a company you're forcing people to work only for you but if they get a job with you they want to work with you.
When the 360's 1st party dev is weak? How does this guarantee good games for Natal and not take away resources from normal 360 games?
tittle is kinda misleading if you ask me for a sec i thought this was about the next natal for the next xbox or something like that personally i questions the choices they make when it comes to studios and devs 1 minute they are ignoring their 1st party the next they are trying to build it then they get rid of some of their 1st party studios only to go and buy others?
It might be a business decision, sometimes they close studios for variety of reasons including financial, lack of employee motivation, business strategic reasons, studio loosing steam and etc.... It seems MS was closing studios to shift their business strategy though. While MS was closing they were also hiring for new studios and buying other studios. I am however, surprised at the closing of Ensemble Studios. They made some great games such as Age of Empires and Halo Wars.
that's the reason why they canned ensemble. They weren't a diverse enough studio, and because their bread and butter was a genre that keeps dropping in popularity they felt the studio wasn't worth it any more. However they still have extremely tight connection with bonfire studios who will now be doing the DLC on halo wars.
Turd natal corp trademarket by Micro$oft Copy cat of Eyetoy and Eyedentify http://www.youtube.com/watc... but no, it is so "inovative", just ignore same sh!t that Sony made like 5 years ago...
Yeah ? If it was always around, how come nobody cared for it ? The media is all over Natal, so obviously MS is doing something right here.
"It's true that Sony has more studios but some of them are just there for the hell of it. Many of them have not done one game this generation while Microsoft studios are always pumping games or supporting another studio." >> rofl
Just ONE studio....?
Why not, they got a nice amount of first party already, and this one will just be working on games that fully require Natal. While other studio's will work on natal features in games that can also be played with a Joypad. MS got a good number of first party studio's. BigPark Lionhead Rare Turn10 Spawnpoint Wingnut MS live productions And then theres always third party studio's like bungie, epic and mistwalker.
"Just ONE studio....? " there is a reason why Sony is in the red and Microsoft is profitable. Microsoft is objective and unlike Sony studios are not just sitting around wasting resources. It's true that Sony has more studios but some of them are just there for the hell of it. Many of them have not done one game this generation while Microsoft studios are always pumping games or supporting another studio. I see Sony leg humpers always saying that Microsoft is not announcing enough games compare to the PS3... but please why don't you name the months where the PS3 enjoyed of many games and Microsoft didn't have anything to counter them. I do agree that Sony is very expressive about the projects they are working on even when they are 3-4 years from release. The reality is that though Sony seem to be announcing more games... both companies seem to be releasing the same about of games.
Rare has around 5 teams working on multiple projects at any given time. That's a substantial amount of people for a studio. And like pizza said, you can't forget 2nd party and third party, also the ability for MS to contract out their products. Just like crackdown 2 isn't being developed by a microsoft studio but the franchise still belongs to them.
We disagree here. I think that spending money to own new IP's is a more wise move than spending the same amount of money to have people make games that you don't own. What's wasteful is spending money on stuff that you don't own; in the long run you will have nothing to show for it. So far this year I count 3 triple A titles for PS3 Killzone Infamous MLB: The Show and 0 triple A titles for 360. But keep in mind that Sony is supporting 3 platforms at one time. Some of the studios will be making games for the other platforms. In my opinion Microsoft has not been doing enough to build their own first party game machine. As a result they don't have enough IP's that they themselves own. I count Halo, Fable, Forza, and I'll say Perfect Dark and Crackdown although I don't consider them to be on the same level as the other 3. That isn't nearly enough IP's to compete in the coming years. Microsoft is short of their own IP's, and needs more games. That is why we see a Halo based game every year. That is why we'll see two Forza's in 3 years. That is why Halo:ODST was changed from an expansion pack to a full game. Microsoft doesn't have enough of their own IP's so they keep using the same ones. Microsoft has probably spent 150 million on DLC this generation. That is enough for 6 or 7 MAJOR brand new IP's and probably more than that since the 360 is so easy to program for. Instead, they chose to spend it on 3rd party games, now the gap is showing. M$ has two proprietary IP's and two 3rd party exclusives coming in this year. Halo:ODST Forza 3 Left 4 Dead 2 - 3rd party Splinter Cell - 3rd party Sony has 3 proprietary IP's and two 3rd party exclusives this year. Uncharted 2 Ratchet & Clank:(I've track of the surname) MAG Demon's Souls - 3rd party Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (playable Ayane for the CRUSHING victory) - 3rd party But Sony has already dropped 3 AAA proprietary titles this year, moreover, Sony pushed back into next year another 4 proprietary titles that are already practically done, just to prevent cannibalization. Last year PS3's games metacritic'ed slightly higher than 360's games. This year, its third full year of life PS3 is literally going to have 2 times as many AAA titles as 360. Next year, it appears that the gap is going to be wider than that, PS3 pushed back more completed AAA titles than 360 will release this year. This trend seems to be saying something. That something is that Microsoft needs to make more of their own games. They lost like 4 3rd party exclusives this year Bioshock, Lost Planet, Ninja Gaiden, Last Remnant. Eventually only 1 or 2 3rd party exclusives will remain and everyone will have to fend with their 1st party titles. I'm glad Microsoft is building another studio. I think Microsoft should build a lot more studios. Then they would have more exclusive games and really push their software more often. That would give me more reasons to buy a 360.
there's also been more Xbox exclusives released this year then there have ps3. Stoked snow boarding, race pro, star ocean, velvet assassin. Also if you're going to include episodic content then fon't forget the xbox GTA of LaD and BoGT. As for your games that have been pushed back. MS has halo reach, alan wake and mass effect releaseing next year, that 3 more titles to match the ps3. The fact of the matter is that MS releases the same amount of games in the same time as sony, the difference is that they announce games in a 6-8month window as opposed to sony's 2-3 year window.
sony fanatics are so blind. tell me exactly what exclusives you will be playing in a few months? all sony ever does is announce games years b4 its ready. to make it seem like they have a ton of games but deliver on like 3?! with all those studios, more then micro and ninty combined, you would think that they would pump out exclusives on a regular but yet micro keeps up with the same quantity as sony?! and dont gve me that crap about guality over quantity. by now, soony should be pile driving the comp. like they said they would, but they cant, they keep dropping the ball like if this is there first gen. look at poor kz2 that game already fell off, why? no promo just like all the other exclusives. if anyone is ruining great games its sony by not getting those games out to the masses like micro has done with halo etc. and nintendo has done with mario etc. i know you sony fanatics hate numbers and only care that you and jimmy down the street got the game, i bet sony would think twice about dropping 50 million for a new ip like that, i wouldnt you ppl just dont support.. oh and ninja gaiden sigma 2 is still just a rehash of the original xbox version just cause it has a "2" on it doesnt make it ninja gaiden 2. you will not know the true sequel story and you will not be chopping off body parts, those are features for the true sequel not the 5th rehash you are about to get..
Air1 I'm sorry you're a fanboy and too cheap to buy games.
lol hdgamer, just cause you still buy games for the ps2 doesnt mean anything, other then your broke as$ still cant up grade to a ps3. i have plenty of games wanted in bpt (360) wanted_in_bpt (ps3) the day you can buy a next gen console send an invite so you can see my library
I have both consoles and more games to play than you ever will. Also I don't add people I don't like or aren't mature enough to play online.
i wasnt asking your punk as$ to play online, all i said was that when you upgrade to a real hd console send an invite so you ca see my games. i am not scared to show it unlike you..
I guess they're starting to build up their first party devs. So what? A little late don't you think?
