I jumped in the beta for a few minutes the other day. I dunno but I feel there is just something about it that I don't really like. The game looks jaw droppingly good but the MP feels tacked on to me. I can't see myself ever getting into it. I kinda wish they had just kept people working on the SP and used more resources for that and not MP. It may turn out to be above average or even good with the final build but... Just like I feel Bionic Commando, Bioshock 2, Dark Sector, Red Faction, Resident Evil 5 and many others they should have just stuck with SP(And in some of the cases they might have ended up with a more fun SP campaign and maybe I would have bought the game). I know a lot of studios feel shoehorned into making MP and thats what it becomes "Shoehorned".

Now Co-op seems cool. Excited for that though =D and I can't wait for this game in general. Like I said though I just feel the MP wont be able to stand up against games like MW2 or KZ2. I am a huge PS3 fan and I look at a game like inFamous(Almost platinum =D) and am glad they didn't use valuable resources to make some kind of MP experience. Not saying that for a sequel some kind of Co-op wouldn't work but yeah. Some games just don't need it and I just can't see the added value in it for Drakes... I will play and love the SP game but will probably play a grand total of 3 hours of the MP before never returning to it...

Im in the beta and i have been playing since June 2nd, I must say it is great if you like third person shooters. Tacked on? I think not.
If its "tacked on" why does the beta play better than most full release games at launch. (yes Gears 2 and SOCOM im talking to you)

It is very addictive and tons of fun, but everything isnt for everybody, a friend of mine hates the beta but he only likes FPS games.

If you combine SP with MP you get this years GotY. Play me if you have the beta.

I own both consoles and although some here might know I prefer my 360, I call things as I see them. And I think the beta of the multiplayer mode in Uncharted 2 is actually very good. I have a blast with it and don't see any significant problems. Besides, we all know Uncharted is always going to be first and foremost about awesome story telling and a roller coaster ride of a single player campaign. Anything else is just a bonus.

What the hell is this guy talking about? What a horrible set of "impressions." He's complaining because it has a deathmatch and capture the flag? Yeah, all online games have them, and guess what: if they didn't, people would be wondering WHERE THE HELL ARE THE STANDARD MATCH TYPES? In what ways could they have possibly revolutionized it? I am in the beta and it's really fun: the controls, weapons, and maps are all solid and I'm having fun with it. I have not yet played the MP beta due to not having bothered to per-order Infamous. Which was so very stupid of me and I ended up bying it anyway. Great game by the way go and buy it!!!

After watching all the demos shown at E3 this year There where so many great looking games. Mass Effect 2 looked great, Assassins Creed 2 made me go WTF more than once. But the Demo of Uncharted 2 in my opinion stole the show. If Naughty Dog puts as much love into the MP as they look to have done with the SP I don't think that any of us shall be disappointed at all =)

I was a bit surprised by the "lack" of hate against UC2. Well, the game is jaw dropping and looks MUCH beter than anything on the other box, so x-dieharders had nothing to complain about.

Now, we got a multiplayer BETA, which is awesome. Very accesible, the action feels good, very very fun and exciting, vertical fighting WORKS, cover WORKS, transversal shooting WORKS. Yesterday I had a blast going through the coop, OMG, it was amazing. If the multiplayer is an indication of the game quality, UC2 is DAY.FVCKING.ONE.WITH.PREORDER. BUY.FOR.ME

For once you are right on the money - Uncharted 2 is first and foremost a single player experience, everything else is bonus material. And if that bonus material is a solid multiplayer, better yet.

I don't even use the roadie run in Gears if I'm honest and can't ever imagine missing it(outside of where you're forced to use it like inside the worms gut etc)-unless they make the steering much better.

UC2 mp beta is amazing imo. Best online beta I've been in since KZ2 and I donm't find it ay all tacked on and I say this as a primarily SP gamer. For online games of the past year I'd say it's as enjoyable as L4D and KZ2(doesn't have the stat tracking/badge earning stuff but it's a different kind of thing)and doesn't feel at all tacked on. The games gorgeous, it's easy to control and the modes have some good twists.

Nothing to hate on and if Bioshock2 does as well with it's mp I'll be simply elated as Uncharted and Bioshock were the two games that it pleased me most to find hadn't got a mp mode last time out.

How is plunder not original ? I mean, sure its a CTF game, but one where you actually have to let go from the flag because that treasure box is on the roof (or upstairs) and you need to get up there somehow. So, that's a new component in a standard game. You can toss "the flag", which adds a new strategic element, IMO.

And, BTW, I like when they (or everybody) complain(s) that a game lacks of new MP modes, and then 95% of all games played are usually DM or TDM again...

I am very disappointed in the multiplayer, the weapon placement is awful. Heck the temple has a weapon every few feet just about. Evereything just seems so rushed. They should have design the 2 maps so you could move through them more smoothly. I played the beta for about an hour then uninstalled it.

Goddamn, you would think after all this time, people would realize that the point of a a BETA is to gain feedback from the end user! After all, Naughty Dog isn't one to sit back and let its games go to waste in mediocrity. They'll take what the users say to heart, and try to improve in any aspect they can. when people put this BETA down it makes no sense to complain about it, im prettysure naughty dog new what they put into the rooms, gun place etc. in facy im sure they dont care about that right now, its getting the networking and coding so everything runs smooth. So far everythign has gone right for me. this game has to different types of players, the first type his people who cant understand the cover system which i find amazing because its an awesome cover system if u get how to move around the world, and the other is a person who usually ends up raping because they talke advantage of the system, who cares about gun placement when geting the right voer u can take everyone out with a pistol. the one thing i wish they implemented from the start of the beta is a qte even when people melee,if anything seems tacked on its the melee, except for the neck breaking XD never gets old.

my isp's been crap the last few days + the matchmaking issues have stopped me from really sinking my teeth into the beta. From what i did play, it seemed pretty good, a worthwhile addition. But in all fairness, the game could easily have done without the multiplayer since ppl will be buying this for the campaign, anything else is a bonus, so even if the multi wasn't up to scratch against other big multiplayer games out, i doubt it would matter all that much

The multi-player is a blast, and like most games like this there is a learning curve, so it takes a little while before you get good.

But the game is fun right off the back, you have to learn how to shoot and how to throw grenades the right way.. Once you start to master these play mechanic's you will be in gamers heaven.

(Notice how the people who don't like the game have only played it a little bit)

Like anything you have to invest some time and energy before you can give a full review. It's the same problem I had with people who played GT5p and never got up to owning a Ferrari. -They would say the game is too slow and cars are not that fast, how would you know you never even played long enough to get a real car.. LoL

The Beta is Awesome, and some serious fun.. I didn't meet one person online who said it was bad.. Everyone loved it and can't wait for the full game to come out -so they can buy it as soon as it comes out.

Why is it that this guy decides to attack Uncharted to for it's lack of originality (In the beta BTW, there will be plenty more) when it is just adopting something to a) Keep fans interested in their game and b) Give the game longevity.

Firstly I would like to say that the whole crossing out of words is probably the point of unprofessionalism, why do the words CTF and Perks have to be crossed out in replacement of the actual words that this game uses for the game mode and levelling up system? Firstly 'Perks' are pretty much a system that was named from the COD series, so why is it suddenly the king of that word and every time a game uses a reward system for levelling up it can be no other word? It's idiotic for this writer to do that.

CTF I can maybe understand. However the far more professional thing to do/write would have been to write Plunder and then in brackets after the word write that it is a CTF mode, no need for the crossing out of the word, it's derogatory to ND and the Uncharted game.

Lastly I would like to know how a beta can be the showing of what a game will have. Most likely we have seen just a few of the modes that the full game will end up having. Sure they might not be the most original game modes, but 90% of MP games have both of them. This is a beta first and foremost and I highly doubt they would want a mode that might still need work in a testing phase than a tried and true mode that everyone can jump in and play.

Just by looking at the tiny screenhot for this N4G page you can see that this comment is BS.

I had NO problems with cover or movement in the first Uncharted so I doubt they've broken that mechanic even a little transitioning to their next title.

As for "standard" game modes and weapons, standard seems to be confused with "bad" these days. If the damn environments and weapons fit the time and place why would they be anything different? And more to the point, why would anyone expect them to be!?

Lastly, this article's author suffers from a lackluster vocabulary and his/her lackluster writing abilities feel tacked-on and lackluster (I don't usually do personal attacks, but some deserve it).

On a side note, those "other" games he FAILS to mention; I can't think of ONE that allows climbing or animations that are one tenth as smooth.

Anyway, give me the beta code because I'll enjoy it!
