Take 2 Grooming Agent to be the next GTA

Gamespot writes: "The game is the mystery title announced in 2007 by Rockstar North, developer of the Grand Theft Auto series. Ben Feder, president of Rockstar parent Take-Two Interactive, believes the game could achieve the same level of success, given its development is being overseen by Rockstar North founders Sam and Dan Houser.

We think this has the potential to be yet another great Rockstar North franchise title….It's the Houser Brothers and Rockstar North. It's the A team working on an AAA title. I think the subject matter, the characters, the story, the environment, the background--all the elements are there. It's such a rich environment to play in."

Hydrolex3427d ago (Edited 3427d ago )

GTA with another name ONLY on the PS3 !!

No limitations R* !!! No more DVD ! No more 9GB

You have 50GB + the most powerful CPU In the world, let's see what you make

When Rockstar says PS3 is the best console then Fans need to SHUT !! They are giving signals that PS3 is the best

CaseyRyback_CPO3427d ago

Im taking crazy pills.. who woulda ever thunk Motion controls would be more interesting than rockstars next game?

Defectiv3_Detectiv33427d ago

That wouldn't be setting the bar very high

I really don't think MS has a shot in hell at getting this game, not unless they release a 360 w/ a disc changer.

brianleppez3427d ago

Easily my most anticipated title for PS3.
Grand Theft Auto 4 is my favorite game this generation along with Call of Duty 4 and the team and Rockstar North made GTA4 incredible!
Now that the same team has only one platform to work on, they have the advantage of Blu-ray and hard drive in every console I cannot wait to see this game. Red Dead Redemption looks sick!

Bnet3433427d ago (Edited 3427d ago )

What are people going to talk about if they haven't seen or know anything about it?

RememberThe3573427d ago

We've seen a large number of quality titles. Developers are trying to innovate and publishers are letting them. I have not been let down by this generation of games and I'm still enjoying every second of it.

Strikepackage Bravo3427d ago (Edited 3427d ago )

is another GTA. Rockstar is played out, and so is GTA, most of you would agree with me on that if this were a 360 exclusive.

@Hydrolex the Cell is far from the most powerful CPU in the world dude, are you kidding me?

Even if it was in the same class as Intel and AMDs offerings, do you really think a multi year old CPU design like the Cell is the current most powerful CPU in the world?

Rigmaster3427d ago

It will be amazing to see what Rockstar's A team can do with the most powerful console. It will be Rockstar's first real next gen game after having to suffer with the stupid 7 gigabyte 360 DVD format, lack of standard harddrive and wimpy graphics hardware downgrading their vision.

They must be breathing a sigh of relief and filled with exhilaration to be completely focused on the most amazing console ever made.

Rigmaster3427d ago

Cell annihilates the junk x86 crap Intel and AMD are putting out. Sorry.

That's why Intel is desperately rushing out the door their half-assed copy of IBM/Sony/Toshiba's Cell type design, Larrabee. Microsoft would be getting humiliated by Cell/PS3 even worse if the Xbox was still stuck with an outdated x86 chip.

The junk Intel is putting out was so bad Microsoft went through the incredibly painful process of dumping x86 for PowerPC even though the vast majority of Xbox developers only know x86/desktop PC systems.

Take-Two believes Sony will offer the same kind of support which made Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas--all initially PlayStation 2 exclusives--three of the top 10 selling games of all time.

Said Feder, "At this phase in the cycle, when you're trying to launch a new franchise, exclusivity can really help you launch the franchise. It can give you the kind of platform that you need to start exclusive, start in the right kind of way with the right kind of partner. Exclusivity does work."

So I see, they understand why exclusives work and how important they are. They also see that Sony is very good at providing the right kind of support for exclusive games.

If it was just about money, then they wouldn't have done this. Because no matter how much money Sony offers, Microsoft can always offer more.

Kaneda3427d ago

I can picture M$ is opening their wallet right now to make this multiplatform game. :)

sniper-squeak3427d ago

Imagine: "GTA V: Agent"

AAACE53427d ago

No matter what kind of pics or videos they release, the fanboys will fall in love with it just because it is exclusive to the Ps3!

They loved DMC 4, GTA 4, FFXIII and several other games. But once those games were announced as multiplatform... they hated them!

Why can't you just love the games you get to play, instead of loving them because you get to brag and say... "You can't have this... It's exclusive!" 8 year old girls do stuff like that! Show some maturity kids!

Beast_Master3426d ago (Edited 3426d ago )

I hate to bust a bunch of Bubbles but Rockstar might do something other than a sandbox game. I mean people forget that when these guys put out GTA it defined the Sandbox genre. Then they put out Max Payne and that game defined bullet time. Then they put out Red Dead Revolver and that game saw a bunch of copycats i.e. Gun and Call of Juarez. With Agent Rockstar may re-invent the wheel again. They said you play as an international spy. So I don't automatically assume you are confined to one city, maybe a couple of cities.

EDIT: Jack Trenton: "AGENT will take the player across the globe amist the shadowy world of espionage and assassins in the darkest hours of the late 1970s"

Tidus113427d ago

I think this is the most information I've heard about this game... Sony should have either added a trailer with the announcement or waited to announce it when they had a trailer to show.

eagle213427d ago (Edited 3427d ago )

I have been looking for any information about this serious exclusive. :)

This is what they had to say when asked about install bases:

"I have a lot of confidence in Sony. I have a lot of confidence in their ability to lead the market, as they always have," declared Feder. "Their console is a terrific platform to be developing for, and Agent is a great testament as to our belief in what that platform can do, and what they can do with us as part of a partnership."

odisho683427d ago

Rockstar doesnt like showing games until a couple months b4 the game actually comes out...they like to build suspense and hype...i was kinda expecting the game to come with a trailer at E3 but then again it's rockstar and whatever it is, it's not going to have any limitations and if it is an open world title then you can expect it to be a system seller easily (btw rockstar knows how to market a game like no other)

Venomish3427d ago

the game will never be the next GTA as long as it is PS3 exclusive.
sad but true.

silvacrest3427d ago

if baseless claims = truth

then i would agree with you

SmokingMonkey3427d ago

they said theAgent is set in late 70's right?

wasn't LAnoir set in 40/50's "D!ckTracy" style?

LOL i couldn't type d!ck tracy lol

PotNoodle3427d ago

No, when sony made this deal in 2007 they said that the game they were put a contract up with is not La noire.

Oh and LA Noire is Team Bondi, Agent is Rockstar North.

SmokingMonkey3427d ago

that's all i needed to hear...instead i get 5 disagrees to a question.

I love R* and it's about time they show the PS3 some love.

andron3427d ago

So just ignore the ignorers(?)...

cmrbe3427d ago

is huge. The Houser Bros + Rockstar North + PS3 Hardware + Sony support = Huge Game.

raztad3427d ago (Edited 3427d ago )

Yeah, but the media quickly "forgot" about this announcement (in contrast with the multi plat MGS:R) because it wasnt MS doing it.

Sony and the best from Rockstar. That is an amazing combination. I hope an awesome franchise coming to a ps3 near of you. Picture me interested. Ms will try to steal it, I expect Sony has made a definitive exclusivity contract.

mastiffchild3427d ago

The truth is, and some will hate on me for saying it, that R* could only do this with Sony. Nothing to do with PS360 fanboy notions and more to do with the time, money and faith sony put into those developing games for their platforms-even Epic seemed to get rushed by MS business plan into releasing Gears onm a two year cycle which , if anything, also sells MS360 asdware short, imo.

Plus the R* A team have experience of doing this kind of thing for and with Sony so when the deal was done to allow GTA4 to go multi this was a no brainer for T2/R*-but what everyone seems to forget is that there should also be two more R*/Sony exclusives down the line as the deal, as I recall , was for three games and not just one. I'd almost forgotten myself til an interview in OPM last year and, of all places, HHG show when he was talking to the dev bloke who couldn't stop smoking, lol.

I dunno whether ms felt they got their fingers burnt with Too Human but they just aren't giving people the chance to build like Sony at present and I just wish they would-we'd get better looking, better made 360 games if they did, imo.

STONEY43427d ago

So what exactly is this gonna be like? GTA Hitman or somethin?

paskowitz3427d ago

that would be amazing. Imagine a sandbox, hitman, 007 style game. I cannot remember the last bad game from R* N.

Qui-Gon Jim3427d ago

The thing i wanted from the Hitman franchise was an open world with the freedom to enter the area from wherever i wanted, rather than being placed at a "starting location." Didn't R* say they expect Agent to be the definitive (dangerous word to use, judging by Turn 10) action game, though? Maybe less like Hitman, and more like a Bond movie.
