Examiner: "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Resident Evil: Director's Cut, Final Fantasy VII and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid are priced $4 above the suggested price point."
It's MUCH better than paying like $50 for it online.
nothing beats having the physical copy having one of those babies the value will only go up with time =] anyways yeah it should be obvious by now the big popular games will be 10 bucks people will still pay for em though
Yep, at least we're not paying around $15 like Japan and Hong Kong did when they released the game for their stores.
"...are priced $4 above the suggested price point." Just say it, 9.99. Oh my god, it's not like it's 15 or 20 bucks. That's the usual price for most psn games anyway and considering the content of it all it's well worth the price.
Final Fantasy VII and is a 3 disc game. The download is over a gigabyte. Most of those 6 dollar games are a couple hundred meg or less. 10 dollars is a steal for FFVII. Metal Gear Solid is another multi-disc game with a large file size for the download. 10 dollars is a steal for that game too. And Symphony of the Night was 10 because it came out at the same time as it did for Xbox Live Arcade, and it was 10 bucks on that service, so it's 10 bucks on the PSN service too. God I'm getting sick of all the negative articles.
Having FF7 right on the PS3 HDD is worth $20 to $25 dollars to me but I gladly payed the $9 even though I has another copy. Capcom is getting away with $14 though they upgrade those classics so that too is decent.
Its better than 100 that ff17 is going for online and maybe square-enix priced it they need money because the less than expectations sales figures of their 360 only rpcs.
Final Fantasy 17?
Everyone I know with a PS3 or PSP has bought this game. It is a MUST buy. Everyone keep buying this. It's the only way to send a message to Square that we want re:FFVII or FFVII-2.
That's basic economics. Higher demand, higher price. Stop wanting the game a,d they'll lower the price for ya.
oops ment 7 1blended with f
sounds good to me.
what makes you think that the 360 games sold less than expected? I think they sold more than expected, they were games they put alot of resources into, more a less testing the waters. For jrpgs not named final fantasy or dragon quest those games sold great.
I don't see the problem in paying $9.99 for a retro AAA game when people pay that much or more in some cases for add on content (DLC).Look at Marvel vs Capcom 2, on ebay last year the DC and PS2 version were fetching nearly $90 and is going to be released soon in the form of $14.99, that's $5 more more then the moral of this story and I won't be complaining and many of you won't either, I'm sure!
Thinking about selling my physical copy and buying this. Gain a little cash, and be able to play it on my PSP as well. $10 is very reasonable for the titles with that price tag. Sony is really stepping it up with PS1 classics. Hoping to see some Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, Xenogears, and Legend of Mana on there.
I'm not a fan of the $10 price point. But at the same time you can argue that $10 isn't worth it for some of these games. I have the original VII (Black Label) in perfect condition but for another $10 I can take it with me on the PSP? It's not a bad deal at all. However, I personally don't see spending $10 on Resident Evil being worth it but at $6 I'd have surely bought it. But others are surely willing to pay $10 for Resident Evil and Metal Gear. Personally I'd like to see the $6 price point across the board on PS games though. But then again, as you mentioned, it beats paying $50+. But can Sony take into account what these games are selling for on ebay and then set the $6 or $10 price point off that? I already own both Suikodens and gladly paid $6 for the original. At $10 I'd have passed. However for Suikoden 2 I'd gladly pay $10 to get it on my PSP. And honestly, it still beats having them bundle both on a $40 disc. ;)
And couldn't be happier paying $10 rather than $50+. I need to finish up Chrono Trigger before I can start on it! :-p
@callahan 1.4 I agree that Final Fantasy VII is a bargain at 10 bucks. The original game was 3CDs and for the privilege of playing it on my PSP on the go, it's worth 10 bucks. The original game was 3 discs. To play it in one go in one single download is a great value at only 10 dollars.
I just finally downloaded FF7 for $10.00!! *tears of joy*
$10 for a PSOne classic that I can spend 40+ hours playing or... $20 for a DLC pack that I can spend 2-4 hours playing... Decisions decisions decisions. Anyway, the reason could be many factors, from third-party expectations to also covering larger file sizes. The previous PSOne classics all came on one disc and were fairly small in size, FFVII came with multiple discs, though, and would definitely result in greater costs for downloading. Likely true for the other titles regarding their file sizes.
No they didn't.... jRPG games sold at a mediocre level on the 360 Eternal Sonata (trusty bell), and Tales of Vespira. at least they did here in the US.
It always sucks when things like this happen, but again it is better than $50 or more.
Ever thought its Square and Konami pricing them? Still they are worth it
Why complain now?
This is examiner all they do is b!tch and moan bunch of amateurs.
Ya cause some of these games are over 70 dollars online... It was cool to see Suikoden only being 5 bucks .... its going for like 80 bucks online
FF VII is $10 and Rally Cross is $6. That would imply that FF VII is worth more, no? I have to agree with that.
fro giving me the option of buying a classic game for ten bucks when the alternitive is buying the same game for 80$. plus with the disk there is a huge chance one of them might not work.
Ah, FF VII.. This is my favourite chapter of the saga, i remember i hated RPG. Then i wanted to try this and i fell in love, i had more than 180 hours of playtime... I have the original game on 3 CDs and i bought this one too, without thinking twice, simply cause i wanted to play this wonderful game on my PSP too.
If they brought them out in the UK...
FF 7 is on the uk store,£8. I think £8 is fine, the crap you get on iphone for similar price makes this a great price.
Where are the VC complaints then ? They didnt even bother adding 60hz for pal versions of game , too many are 4:3 only , and they are quite expensive for stuff you sometimes can even play for free in flash . Depends on the games and consoles , but close 8-10 dollars each for 16 bits game with most of the time no change or optimisations ? All that while many were already in compilation with upgrades for all current and past consoles , like the sega genesis one . If you want to complain at least do it equally , or complains about valid stuff , like the lack of more obscure but critically acclaimed titles or the disparity between the japanese store , and the othe regions.
After years of wanting it, I was surprised to see it was only $9.99 on the US store, and people are complaining about it? I bet they could charge US$30 and people would still buy it. This is just crap. FFVII and MGS are going to sell millions, Sonys only worry is whether their servers will cope.
Wait wait wait. Great games priced @ $10 and someone is complaining? WTF!
dont really know about these ps1 classics ive bought two and the graphics are just s++te
if you cant deal with playing old games without judging them by today's standards , then just wait for eventual remakes or move on to new games ...
I remember hearing that it's the publisher who decides the price on the PSN games, does this include ps1 games? If so, its really the publishers charging more for popular games, not Sony. Regardless, its no worse then booting up the Virtual Console on the Wii and paying rediculous amounts of money for very old games (alot of which we have been ask to buy, and buy again, and rebuy some more, etc, etc). Just part of the games industry we have to live with. If you dont like it, vote with your wallet.
i sold my hard copy so yea $10 is good.
well i really dont care that much because over here in minnesota u can find the old school games like for the old atari2600 and ColecoVision in the malls around. then they have FF7 without the GreatestHits Tag for 20.99 so if i end up scratching my original FF7 disc somehow i know i can go to my mall and pick up a new one
You have the ability to play legendary games on both PS3 and PSP for 10$, why complaining? Wanna see how much costs Final Fantasy VII on eBay? (between 30 and 50$)
Some classic hits I can now play on my psp now? Damn I swear every good news sony has, u always have to have idiots complaining.
.. I got both FF7 and RE1 original cd games for the PSone but I still would like to buy those games again so I can play then on my PSP . these days to play a PS1 or PS2 game in a LCD tv.... the quality of the graphics is horrible, but in a small screen they look awesome cool.
That's high priced? I guess if you're not an adult then yes.
High Profile PS1 games(aka high Tier or AAA) 10.00 Low Profile PS1 games(anything below AAA at the time) 5.00 that makes sense. don't know why people are complaining about that.
FFVII is a 3 disc game at 1.3GB. It costs more to host and they pass the buck to the consumer. People pay ridiculous prices for the discs (for collecting purposes obviously), but at $10, it's a steal. RE Director's Cut on the other hand... well, that's up for debate. But I'm not sure it's Sony making these decisions, I could be wrong. I know the examiner sure doesn't know anymore than I do though. Wannabes.
why can't SONY add a trophy patch so that these games are worth playing through a second time.
Re on the PSN is a 300 megas game and cost the same of the 1.3G of FF7.
Other things that cost 10$ where I live: * A 130g hamburger with nothing. * Taking the bus downtown and back. (I can walk this distance in 1 hour total) * Parking my car downtown for 3 hours. * 5 liters of fuel. (That would be 1.32 US gallons) Hell, I eat for more than 10$ every single day!
Obviously the textures and poly counts the same but what about resolution? are all the jaggys gone? interpolation to smooth textures etc. I haven't got any yet and I was thinking of getting ff7, crash 2, symphony of the night but if they look better on pc emulators I won't bother. Can someone please reply.
It looks like it would on PS1, except with some (optional) smoothing, which is not to be confused with real antialiasing.
Um...$10.00 is good enough for me. I bought FFVII today and I didn't have a seizure. -.-
I need to get a bigger hard drive
if sony was gonna charge $5 for this, then they should might as well get out the gaming business
I don't care about the price I am actually happy the game is the PSN just hope Square adds a few more RPG's like FF8 FF9 and maybe even Xenogears.
$10 is perfectly reasonable for a game like this. I'd much rather have price be based on quality/size than an arbitrary number. Besides look at the Wii downloadables. Now THAT is a rip-off.
I don't think it's Sony that's charging more it's the third parties that want the title at that price.
There are other third party games such as Street Fighter Alpha that are the base price and not $9.99. It's just the "high profile" releases that are that expensive.
will tranfer it to my psp go. MGS next.
... pissed that people are b*tching over an extra $4...
10$is nothing, especially for a game hard to get in a solid copy.
It's seems at one point i heard about this crazy thing called demand. I think it was how bad people want something. now if people want it $10 much why would you price it less. Please don't start thinking these companies care or feel like they owe you anything
