Gaming Union: Heroes of Telara Preview

Gaming Union writes: "On Tuesday, Gaming Union hooked up with Trion World Network for a look at their new in-house fantasy MMO, Heroes of Telara. The game uses a different approach than most MMOs, using the client's computer to perform the rendering and user interface, while the server is in control of the game's events. This allows them to easily update content in the game, such as timed events. These updates are distrusted in cores, and those cores are available on every server."

Rift Review | GamingExcellence

Alex Coulter writes "Rift's success will ultimately be based on whether the end-game content that Trion provides is compelling enough to keep players coming back again and again. As of right now, it's too early to tell. However, based on what I've seen so far in Telara, I'm very optimistic."

I'll pass on this one. Besides, I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2 to come out.

I love this game so far. It's the first game to keep me away from my PS3 for a few days (except for Netflix and GT5!). Easily the best MMO since World of Warcraft.

My favorites:
World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XI, EVE Online, Ragnarok Online, Rift.

Rift has been good, its not really a bad game. And obviously its now a wow competitor. I have been playing a level 65 healing cleric and so far so good. I like the game play, graphics and all. Probably those who haven't touched wow, they would like Rift. More over, I like it enough that I'm following awesome Rift guides at http://www.riftreview.net . But yeah, must say, its not a wow killer, thats all >.<

Trion Worlds' event whets the appetite while revealing a new phase in the MMO genre

GameZone's Michael Lafferty writes,

"While Trion Worlds has a fantasy-based MMORPG in Rift, the quality of the world will certainly capture the imaginations of gamers. It is part of the next generation of MMOs delivered in full-on high definition with truly spectacular effects and graphics. The name change "came about as we spent time with the game," explained Scott Hartsman, CEO of Trion Redwood Shores. The protective ward that separates the land of Telara from the planes where all manner of evil dwells has been torn and rifts occur that allow all manner of creatures to come through in wave upon wave. And while some planes may have contrary names, like the Plane of Death and the Plane of Life, the goals are the same – to conquer Telara and kill the inhabitants there."

so many pubs and developers promise a new experience and it all seems a rehash. will take a wait-and-see approach with this.

mistermostyn5111d ago

Really need to force myself down the MMORPG route... although I fear I may loathe what I become.

Or you could try some of this lovely heroin! :D

Caspel5111d ago

I'll stick to Guild Wars 2 for my online multiplayer experience.
