E3 '09: Square Enix unveils Nintendo line-up

Following some years in the wilderness in terms of Final Fantasy for Nintendo, E3 '09 sees the company "announce" a couple of games we were already aware of and a couple of new ones.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers is coming for Wii as we have known for a long time. The game combines the much loved Final Fantasy universe and characters with a real-time action gameplay style.

and also 2 FF Cryatl Chronicle games.
Good stuff, now where is my FFXIII for PS3?

Exactly what I'm thinking I'll add FFVersus 13 while I'm at it

SpoonyRedMage5859d ago

All of those were known about.

FFIV: The After Years was put on the Wiiware on the 1st and it's already number one. You American Wii owners better pick it up!

ha yeah I noticed that too. Didn't take long to become the most popular. Hopefully that shows Nintendo and SE and Wii owners like RPGs ^^

I'm looking forward to the next My Life As a King. The first was amazing and stole time away with ease. The way they word this one though sounds like a tower defense which the trailer didn't look like but I guess I don't know now.

As far as Crystal Bearers. I want it! Now! lol

Crystal Bearers is the one I'm really looking forward too.

My Life as a Darklord is a Tower Defense game I think. Does seem odd, another genre change but SE seem to love Tower Defense.

I think a good thing they could do is start offering the old minigames from old FFs as 200 point downloads. I know I'd buy them, especially the FFVII ones.

Spoony's right it is a tower defense game-sadly. I have no idea why SE are so in thrall to the genre but there you have it.

@Spoony, about the minigames-with the likes of FF7(and no doubt more-I haven't checked yet what I'll be able to stick on my PSP)being loaded onyo PSN I doubt they'll be doing anything like it but it's a great idea for a Wii Ware outing for SE. I dunno how they could present it-maybe almost as a mad FF Olympics!-but there's got to be milage in the notion. It's odd that mini game collections don't seem to have the quality of minigame you find in normal games some great games have had cool minigames in them too(and , no, not bloody Twing Twang or whatever it's called in Heavenly Sword!)!

Why should we pick up FFIV? FFIV was the only FF game I could ever get into. But it's gonna cost around $32 to get all of the episodes. So $32 to get the full game. Yeah right.

SpoonyRedMage5859d ago (Edited 5859d ago )

Well Smacktard, the $8 dollars it takes to get just the core of it is the same length as most shooter campaigns with the DLC chapters being episodic chapters. They don't directly follow on from each other and you control different characters in different chapters.

Plus you don't have to buy every chapter and I'd personally rather have a $3 expansion to FFIV: TAY than the lame Magic Made Fun stuff on the DSiware.

That's personally why I think it's worth it.

EDIT: Plus it only seems like a bad deal to us because we know all the chapters exist. When they released them in Japan episodically they only actually finished the first chapter and then released it and went to work on the next one. Therefore every new chapter was new work. They're kind of screwing the west over though because they're charging for the first chapter(Which they didn't do in Japan) although that may be down to Nintendo's policy.
