Nintendo shareholders reject proposal on dividends

Shareholders in video game maker Nintendo Co. Ltd. rejected a company proposal that would have allowed its board to decide the timing and size of dividends without their approval, the company said on Thursday.

Nintendo shareholders at the company's annual general meeting voted down a package of changes that also included other changes to its corporate charter, but the company said it thought the dividend proposal was the reason for the rejection.

The vote marked the first time that Nintendo shareholders had rejected a company proposal.
