High Voltage: Conduit won't suffer MadWorld sales fate

The Conduit, the upcoming Wii-exclusive sci-fi FPS billed as having graphics on a par with games on the Xbox 360 and PS3, won't suffer the same fate as other Wii titles aimed at core gamers, developer High Voltage has insisted.

Completely unproven as professionals with a game aimed at relatively the same audience as Madworld, I'd be utterly surprised if their game didn't suffer the same fate.

Not hating on the Wii, I do enjoy my little white box, but they need to see how their game is received by the media and the public before they start proselytizing about the wonders of The Conduit and it's development (see pretty much any other interview with High Voltage).

I think of M games as rated R movies, and a good portion of parents won't buy M games for their kids. With a T rating, any kid who saves up his allowance can get it. They just need to advertise it with saturday morning cartoons -_-;

Its comparing a dared artstyled beat'm up to a FPS shooter with a known setting....and it plays in cities that are suppose to be real...

I cant believe no one has caught on to the fact that Hardcore games on Wii don't sell fast right away like hardcore games on the PS3 and 360 they sell at a slow steady rate for a long time, just look at no more heroes at first it sold little but after time sales kept going up and up and up, and sold a kinda good amount of copies, same with COD world at war it didn't have a big boom of sales when it first came out it just kinda slowly went up and I play like everyday and theres always new people joining, and there are always a lot of people online, so just understand that Hardcore games on Wii don't sell a lot at first but slowly get up to selling OK after some time.

First they say the graphics will be on par with PS3 and 360 games and now they say this. These devs are full of lies, they lost credibility when they stated the first comment. If those screens are from the final build...they dont even look on par with PSN games/Xbox Live Arcade games

I think it will do just fine,I'm not saying it going sell a mil out of the gate but i do beleave it will sell better over the long hall.Its got so much going for it that other games didn't have.Games like world at war ,medal of honor these both sold over a mil and i'd bet the conduit will follow if not do alot better.

Impossible the graphics are on par with 360/PS3 because of a simple reason.

Wii can only do 480p, last gen SDTV resolution.

360/PS3 games are overall 720p native, thus a much higher native resolution and my 360 even upscales every 720p game with the ANA chip to 1080p.

I am 100% sure the Wii and this game will never ever have graphics up to my other two consoles. Most Wii games are worthless by the way. I love original games for my 360 and the PS3, but I just can't find games I really want to buy for my Wii. It allmost gets very tempting to use the USB HDD loader because the pile of shiatware, so its quick testing some games if they're worth it.

Nintendo facks consumers by selling that overcharged Gamecube and have so much shiatware out there, everyone should rip Nintendo 1st party games to fack Nintendo back.

Well...it's an FPS, which games like Call of Duty on the Wii show that there is a lot of demand for and it's rated T, so it's not isolating anyone really. With those two factors in mind, it already appeals to a much wider demographic than Madworld, which was really only a niche game from a development team who more unique style games never make zillions but operate on a rather low budget.

Wii is just full of casual gamers. Why do you think only marion cart, and Wii Fit sell? Did you see the reception of Madworld? People loved the game. It is the same with No more heroes. Its a known fact that the best games on Wii don't sell. The Conduit looks pretty basic as FPS's go..

Have you played Madworld? It's like 6 hours long with simple controls. It's a really fun game, I love it, but it wasn't exactly screaming high budget game.

Viewtiful Joe also sold less than what Capcom was estimating, but devs said it was a commercial success due to a lower budget.

I didn't mean all their games, heck I haven't played all of them, but it seems that their games that offer unique art styles and crazy new styles and gameplay mechanics never makes millions of dollars but always end up a success because of a lower budget.

If Call of Duty and Medal of Honor could sell a respectable amount of units on the Wii, then I think that The Conduit really does have a good chance of gathering a lot of sales. Although I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it didn't sell well.

I disagree. It will sell at least 1 million like Metroid Prime 3 and Call of Duty 3, both T rated shooters. They each sold more than 1 million units.

And The Conduit has so many more features. Don't tell me it won't sell well.

NOTE: It will sell slowly, like every other hardcore Wii game. One thing is for sure, most N4G Wii owners will buy it and post user reviews.

They are sh/tting their pants because they keep saying that its now our turn to show that we support those games as they provided a game with a much higher production value than allot of other wii games.

HEll they know it is possible that it won't sell, but then again this game is build by help from a community outside the studio.

Most of who tried this game actually enjoyed it.

The ongoing claim is that this game will be comparable to PS3/360 graphics in that many of the same effects and techniques are being used. Effects and techniques that many thought were impossible on the Wii.

Add to this the fact that the vast majority of gamers still don't own HD TV's, (even many 360 and PS3 gamers), and you can see where they are coming from. No one ever said that The Conduit will look as good as a 1080p game run on an HD T.V. You guys should save yourselves some frustration and let it go already.

It specifically says having graphics on par with games on 360&PS3. It doesn't says effects or techniques period.

Plus it also can't do effects & techniques like the 360/PS3 because the Wii as a supercharged gamecube can do about what the XBOX 1 could and that one also couldn't pull of the same tricks as the 360/PS3 can.

I've interviewed them twice myself. They agree with outsiders who've played it and temporarily mistaken it for a 360 game, and they have hyped up the graphics with a little hyperbole at times, but what you are trying to claim is B.S. win or lose I'll be happy to have a full featured FPs to play on my wii. Though i'll be honest. It's an FPS on the #1 system of this gen. If it kicks butt expect the pc gamers to pick it up like hot cakes. It might not be blockbuster in the first week or month but over it's life it will more then likely outsell killzone 2. I reccomend all ps3 owners sell their PS3's that thing is only going to be gathering dust by the end of this and the next year. Better off selling it, buying a cheap blueray player and the conduit.

The PC gamers have been waiting on this game. The customization is home to so many hardcore PC fPS gamers , truthfully the only thing they lack is mods support now. The console gamers do not understand PC gamers will want others to play this game with them I mean that is actually how I got. Lots of people may be holding off on PC upgrades and playing more console games and they will want the best controls. Most Pc gamers don't even play their games with all the eye candy turned on because it is more about winning and being competitive than showing off your HD tv to your friends.

MadWorld was black and white, a style that some people didn't dig, the game was ultra viloent, and it was only 5 hours long.......you guys think The Conduit will end up like MadWorld? A lot of Wii owners simply didn't dig MadWorld's style, for obvious reasons. Most didn't buy it since it wasn't long enough, and others just didn't like the over-the-top viloence.

But The Conduit is a FPS, the face of modern "hardcore." It's also rated Teen, unlike MadWorld, so more people will have acess to it. And The Conduit will feature a robust online, stats, unlockables, chaets, and a 10 hour campaign.............and you guys think this is the same as MadWorld?

i think the game will sell pretty well, but i know i'm not gonna buy it. I had planned on renting it but i live overseas now and there's no blockbusters here. Plus my wii is NA so games from this region wont work on it.
