Expect Epic Announcements at Microsoft's E3 Conference

Now I know the inner fanboy in you wants to say, "But you can get it on PC as well, so it's not exclusive!"

The typical PC gamer is of a different breed. PC gamers don't respect consoles... and yes, that means they don't respect the all powerful Ps3 as well! They don't even consider console games. All they care about is if a game is on PC!

I have run into several PC gamer idiots trying to prove to me that i'm wasting my money buying consoles, and that I could just buy the games on PC. But, I just don't like playing games on a PC, which is probably why I prefer consoles.

PC games just don't feel right to me for some reason... Kind of like how a Ps3 fanboy feels when they play a 360...lol!

Console and PC gaming are on different levels and cannot truely be compared or linked to eachother in my opinion. When a game comes out, if it wasn't for the fanboys, I would have never known the game was on PC as well, because I have no intention to buy a PC game.

I enjoy PC gaming very much but I still love console games. Some games are just much better on the PC. FPS for example are overall much better played on the PC. Dedicated server with virtually no lag and a superior control scheme just makes FPS online and off that much better. Games like Starcraft and Diablo that you can only find on a PC are amazing games. Consoles however had fantastic exclusive games that you can't find on the PC. Action adventure games and Third person shooters IMO are best on consoles. I can't play Demon's souls, Uncharted, Infamous, God of War, or numerous RPGs on the PC. It is great being able to experience the best of both worlds and to limit yourself to only consoles or only PC is just silly IMO.

I get most, if not all these so called exclusive games on 360 anyway, but excluding the PC is stupid and ignorant - so i'm not sat here saying that i will be buying these games on PC anyway, like some of the sony fanboys on here.

Honestly, the fact is - you don't have to buy a 360 to play some of those games - which means the game isn't exclusive.

I love my PS3 more than all the other consoles but lets be honsest here, an EPIC game has the ability to hold its own against any of the games on that list.

They also have a new engine. Gears is an AMAAAAAZING franchise, so amazing that it made my PS3 lovin ass buy a 360. I wont be left out in the cold on Anything GeOW related. Personally I wanna see GeOW3 on their new UE. If not, something new and better, even though I cant imagine them topping Gears but who knooooooooows.

why do people wave the sales flag around so much? As has been said before sales != quality. Look at some of the greatest games in history, for example Argonauts and Ico/SotC. Not huge heavy hitters in the sales department, but excellent games none the less. The only thing that high sales levels prove is that a game is mainstream. It appealed to a vast group of individuals who then bought the game.

In my opinion sales are just a security blanket for people that feel the need to prove that the game they purchased is worth it, because he"hey! if 7, 999,999 other people all bought this same game, it can't possibly be bad right? Right??" Just enjoy the games you buy, if you like Barbie pony princess, good on ya! You don't need sales to justify a purchase if you genuinely enjoy a game.

Not to say that trolling should be allowed anywhere nor am I condoning such a thing by saying this, but it's ironic that there's so much complaining about trolling by a PS3 fanboy in a 360 related story when 360 fanboys do it non-stop in PS3 related stories and it seems to never even get a peep out of anyone (the old "we're allowed to troll in YOUR space but you can never troll in OUR space" business). What I think he meant was that one game announcement might not be enough to tackle the very strong lineup the PS3 has for 09 (which, I think, is pretty much shot for the 360 (09 is, I mean) unless the Halo games come through more for them and they have something up their sleeves for THIS year). They will show new upgrades on the Unreal III engine at the beginning of the show and will bring Gears of War III announcement, coming spring 2010 at the end of the show. In between they'll also announce the new game which might be multiplatform like UT3.

The UE3 engine (for me personally) just doesn't cut it anymore. I was one of the biggest fans of the original Gears of War but the sequel left me so frustrated! Even after all the patches the game is still a hit or miss online. When it's running good it's a freaking blast to play but when it's bad it's BAD. The thing that sucks is being penalized 1500 points for leaving a host that obviously doesn't have the bandwidth to handle the match that and matchmaking could still use some tweaking.

Anyone know if a new engine is being worked on by them? Will this (possible) survival horror game be on the UE3 engine?

Too early, sadly, for Gears3 but a little bone for PC gamers with releasing Gears2 for them would make some cash and please many gamers who liked the first(which I actually played on PC myself-great game on PC too)but haven't had the chance to play yet.

And while a survival Horror might be great I'm not certain that's what we'll get even though EVERY recent attempt as failed either at remaining a true survival game(RE5 and L4D are really action games that happen to have zombie type enemies really), a true horror game(same kind of thing-what's been really scary lately?)or failed to sell despite being good (Dead Space). With Nintendo pulling out of selling Tecmos Fatal Frame 4 in the west(a game which, arguably was a survhorror game, scary, part of a franchise(unlike DS)and according to it's Japanese reviews a good game too)maybe devs think there's not the money/market here right now for actual horror games?

That said Shinji Mikami and Suda51 are supposedly well into one so who knows?

Hell, just so long as the games good who cares? Sony have some great games already confirmed with, as we all know, many more they could well announce. MS themselves aren't THAT short of titles even now if you think about it(ODST,SCC,AW etc, etc)and that's pre E3 and ignoring multi plats. Rare, Lionhead, possibly MW or Valve could or should have a game or two for 360 gamers that make the console look much more busy than some might make out.

I really hope that there's some great new exclusive IP from Epic, though, that competes with Sony's exclusives on visual and gaming fronts as this gen has seen great strides in quality and is the first where I've felt(though I've done it before)that you actually miss out if you don't have access to all available platforms. I want more games-make me poorer!

This game was one of THE BEST games I have played on xbox. Play it for yourself. It is such a dynamic game, and the only of its kind to be able to present a GOOD melee system in a first/third person shooter. It's simply amazing.

I think that, whatever they will announce at MS's conference, they won't leave the PS3 behind.

More than just a software house, Epic is a middleware house, they get a LOOOOT of money for the Unreal engine rights, that is succesful thanks to the Gears franchise.

When other devs look at Gears, they know what 360+Unreal Engine can do, but they can't say the same for PS3, where everyone knows that the Unreal Engine has quite some problems.

So they have to do a PS3 game with their engine if they want their stuff to be completely believable.

More than that, you can't cut out from your business plans a console with near 23 millions fanbase.

In the past gen XBOX was cut out because there was something like a 60 millions difference, but today the difference is less than 10 millions and PS3 will consistently close the gap in this fiscal year (End 31 March 2010).
You must also note that the greater is the fanbase, the higher is the price to obtain an exclusive, and the prices are getting too big even for MS.

At this point in this gen third party exclusive is a dead word, trust me.

Yeah, I seriously don't like playing sales, I think the PS3 is a great machine, but they're not closing the gap. The gap is getting bigger. Problem is, whenever MS releases one really big hyped game, it murders PS3 in sales. Christmas 2008, for example, Gears 2 allowed MS to push an extra 500,000 consoles out and the gap has been widening ever since. I for one am going to buy a PS3 and do my part.

I got my source from wikipedia so I'm probably wrong. Nonetheless, I don't really think UE4 deserves that much hype because EPIC just updates the old code for each Unreal Engine iteration. It's the reason why Unreal engine 3 still has buggy textures and pop-ins. As well as the fact that it is so inefficient that it required a lot of 360s power to run Gears2.

It does sound slightly fanboyish. You could say the same thing about the PS3 without Konami, Naughty Dog, or even a blue ray player. Big name multi-plats sell better on the 360, look at the call of duty games and GTA4. I'm just glad both systems have great exclusives, as should you be.

It actually makes sense, the original xbox wouldn't have been what it was without bungie making halo 1 and 2. And because of that, it spawned halo 3 ( not my fav fps game but arguably one of the most successful fps series, like it or not, it has done great ). Without bungie, the original xbox or the 360 wouldnt have moved nearly as many numbers as it has. Might get some disagrees with that but its true.

Then you have epic games and the Gears series, these 2 companies and their exclusive games for the 360 ( and some for the pc ) have been saviors for MS. How many people do you know who went out and got a 360 day one because they knew Halo 3 was coming one day?

These are 2 of their most popular killer apps and its not a stretch to say MS owns their success to them, so no, in conclusion, its not fanboyish to think so.

Edit: i wouldnt truly include lionhead in this either, granted, Fable 2 is a good game. But they arent on the same level of console moving games as the halo series and Gears.

...and I want Gear 3 bad. Gears 2 was so anti-climatic. Just hitch a ride on a Brumak and take the expressway to the end of the game. There wasn't even a final boss battle.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay was awesome, but the story seems like it was penned by John Byrne (for those comic fans) - the ending was very hurried.

Well, yeah, the last act is kind of "is that IT? WTF?" but most of the game is really tight actionwise and who plays Gears for the Epic story in any case? Don't expect number three to give Shakespeare any nightmares either.
