April 2007? Date Appears at Bottom of Kojima Teaser Site

The Kojima teaser site, which is rumored to be for the next Metal Gear Solid game which stars Raiden, has recently been updated to have lightning, a countdown, and a flashing 5. It has now been discovered that when the lightning flashes on the screen the date "April 2007" can clearly be seen at the bottom of the screen. Take a look in this screenshot.

It seems as though the April 2007 date means nothing. The Kojima teaser site actually used the boarder from a poster of the movie "Grindhouse". Whomever put it together forgot to clean up down there. The Dimension Films and Troublemaker logos can clearly be seen to the left and right of the date. There is no confirmation if Kojima gained the rights to use this for the website. The poster can be seen at the following address.

The Kojima Teaser Site has since been updated, and the April 2007 date and any other writing from the "Grindhouse" poster is now gone. They must have photoshopped it out. The new picture can be seen here.

I think it is actually April 16 2009 with the nine being funny and stylized. Ok not photoshopped I just got a screen that looks the same it is clearly "APRIL 2007" it looks like the day date is a devil head....

solideagle13467d ago

i think its the first time he is teasing us. make a game of metal gear solid 5 which should be the mission of snake to kill the big boss aka remake of original.

morganfell3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Highly doubtful as Ryan Payton discussed the wealth of possibilities concerning Big Boss' own character and story telling from his point of view. Anyone that played MGS3 knows this. On a personal note I find his story to be much more bitter and sacrificing than Snake's.

This game likely is MGS5 and a Raiden game.

However, I think people should take a note of caution on that assumption. It's almost too damn obvious.

anh_duong3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

for me this is as clear as night and day now. it is obvious that mgs 5 will be a multi-console game and to go back on every previous e3 ms has always annouced a big ps3 exclusive losing exclusivity.

hence the timing points to ms announcing (at e3) that mgs 5 has gone multi and two days later kojima reveals mgs 5 to the world.

i will get a lot of disagrees for this but for me gaming is my hobby and i am not a hater (the only thing i hate is gaming journalists who stir up fanboy hatred) and i really don't care what console the game comes on so long as the game is good. in fact i am not a big fan of exclusivity because not everyone can afford two consoles so the more people who get to play the game the better. this is what gaming is all about.

MisterNiwa3467d ago

Guys, now compare that "April 2007" with that here:

They obvisiouly used the grindhouse wallpaper border, you can even see the GR of Grindhouse.

UltraNova3467d ago

You guys might want to check what happened on April 2007 in the Metal Gear Universe...especially who was the center character on that event...

Perhaps you'll find the truth... Remember the truth is out there!

StephanieBBB3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Yeah I did that. Found out that at 2007 there's two events. One is some none important information about Manhattan and the other one is about the Rig called "Big Shell" which evidently you play as Raiden on in MGS2 which is placed 30 km outside of Manhattan.

It says that at this "Big Shell" they constructed the Navys massive Metal gear called "Arsenal Gear". Oh and also the GW was also stationed at this facility during "testing". And the GW is the Super computer A.I which you destroy in MGS4 in the end on the boat "outer Heaven".

So Im guessing that MGS5 is played out before MGS4. And you play as Raiden before he becomes a robo-ninja. Might even get to play as both?

Critical_Hit3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Looks like this might not be MGS5 but rather a collaboration between Hideo Kojima, Shinji Mikami and Suda 51 (0_o)!?

Or maybe a Kojima zombie game (remember the Nightmare game in MGS3)?

MisterNiwa3467d ago

Ignorant fools, i showed you the solution and you keep talking about what happened at any date but not the April 6th 2007.

Just get real, jeez.

jack_burt0n3467d ago

its hard to talk sense to headless chickens, its a borrowed asset guys lol

callahan093467d ago

I was like "What the heck is MasterNiwa talking about?" But then I clicked his link above, and that Grindhouse poster is insane. I mean, it's exactly the same as the Kojima Productions teaser! You CAN see the outline of the Grindhouse logo, the date and other 2 logos (one to the left and one to the right of the date) are the same as the Troublemaker and Dimension Films logos, and the splotchy edges of the border are all just the same as the Grindhouse poster.

Seriously, why is it superimposing a poster for a 2 year old movie? It doesn't make any sense... MasterNiwa, how did you even find that?

I think maybe this could have something to do with the supposed Grasshopper Manufacture/Suda-51 game that was talked about as being a collaboration with Kojima a while back...

anh_duong3467d ago

misterniwa .. looks like you are right.. a new horror ip

callahan093467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

Edit: I'm confused by it all, but my new guess is that it is counting down until the number flashing in the background is 4. Then it begins a new countdown to 3, a countdown to 2, a countdown to 1, and then finally a countdown to 0. My guess is that the final stopping point, when it hits 0, will be at the moment of Konami's E3 conference.

Avenged Sevenfold3467d ago

No it says 2007. I'm using my laptop and I just tilted it for a better angle and it clearly says April 2007. Hmmm, Kojima you evil mastermind...

George Sears3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

"Federal Hall, hahahahahahaha"

Raiden: What are you laughing about?

"Do you know what date it is today?"

Raiden: April 30th? (2009)

"That's right, George Washington took office as the first President of the United States of America 200 years ago and it happened right here"

*Rose/Raiden anniversary April 30th 2009*

SevWolf3467d ago

@sears nice find well you should remember it, you were there haha hehe...JK......anyways I also found this when I looked up april 07 Kojima did an interview,

"He then went on to discuss the remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, “What you expect in a Metal Gear is probably only possible by Kojima Productions. I don't know if other Konami studios could really achieve a satisfactory result for the user. But if I get an offer from an overseas company saying they really want to do it, that could be an option.”"
I most probably am totally wrong but maybe instead of remaking the first he could be remaking MGS2, well watever it is im excited as hell for it

MisterNiwa3467d ago

First the clouds.
Then the thunder.
Then the rain.
Then the light rain.
Then the sun shines.

This wont end till E3, buddies.

bpac1234567893467d ago

Kojima loves f***** with us. He's so unpredictable that i gave up trying to figure him out a long time ago. Everybody thinks its a new metal game with Raiden but knowing him its probably something completely different.

prabx3467d ago

You idiots. Grindhouse was released in April 6 2007. Kojima teased us with clouds and thunder, etc. Grindhouse is an excellent movie, why not make it an great gaming expierence? (check IMDB for Grindhouse)

ZeroBlitz3467d ago

I absolutely loved MGS2 and it's one of my favourite games in existence. It would be too awesome if this new project was an extended remake (additional gameplay & cutscenes for both Snake and Raiden, new items) with MGS4 graphics, a new spinoff story as you use Raiden leading up to him ending up in his exo-skeleton, another connected story giving you control of cyborg-Raiden in new mission(s) and a huge set of VR Missions spread over many different playable characters.

Obviously this is incredibly unlikely but a guy can dream, right?

AuToFiRE3467d ago

April 16th 2007? thats when the VA tech massacre happened..

AnttiApina3467d ago

RememberThe3573467d ago

Holy crap, yeah it is. Thats not the best coincidence.

GameGambits3466d ago

360 fanboys must be going nuts lately thinking it's going to be a MGS game on 360, since after a while every MGS game goes to another game console. However:

So since the 360 is far less capable, and the only thing more powerful at the moment than a PS3 is a computer the only MGS4: S something you'd see crazy kids would be a PC version lol.

As for what I think it is teasing to. Boktai. :D

locos853467d ago

So what is it with this Grindhouse connection? I never saw that movie.

RememberThe3573467d ago

It was two movies. Planet Terror and Death Proof.

But I have no clue about why there would be a connect to a Kojima game.

just found a fan film with a strange date

Also found out that the MGO Beta started right around this time 4-18-07 i think....

April 1, 07 is when the AC/MGS trailer was released...

Konami announced Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence’s online mode goes offline on April 3rd, 2007. The PS2-exclusive stealth-action game was released on March 14th, 2006, putting heavy emphasis on its new online mode through prize tournaments last year.

Maybe someone can fire up the database's timeline and tell us if there is anything there as this could be when the game is set to take place...

itchy183467d ago

i found this on wikipedia..

"On April 30th, 2007, Jack met Rosemary during an argument about King Kong. After they parted ways, they met again afterward, shocked that they worked in the same place. Eventually, Jack grew to love Rose deeply, but his harsh experiences had left him melancholic and emotionally distant, and he constantly shut her out of his problems. However, all of this drama was a ruse by the Patriots to gain control of Raiden's life, with Rosemary as a Patriot spy."

Masta_fro3467d ago

you got it...

The word "Raiden" literally means "lightning" in Japanese. In the later half of Metal Gear Solid 4, there are various references to this, notably his dialogue referencing lightning when he makes his appearance right before Snake enters the microwave corridor. He also mentions that he was born on a rainy day - with a pessimistic tone - to which Snake replies that he is "the lightning in that rain."

Its definitely Metal Gear Raiden...everything points to it...and im very excited.
