Are Gears of War 2 initial customers getting shafted?

Michael A. from Analoghype writes: Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games will unleash the Gears of War 2: All Fronts Collection, a value-packed compilation that combines all previous Gears of War 2 game add-ons with brand new multiplayer and campaign content for $19.99. Available only at retail, the new collection invades store shelves worldwide on July 28 in LIVE-enabled regions. The overall Gears of War franchise sales have eclipsed the eleven million unit mark with Gears of War 2 surpassing five million copies sold worldwide. The real question is how many people out of that five million plus fans have bought DLC? I ask this because those fans are getting shafted. Read on to find out how.

You still get the campaign DLC and 7 new maps and a poster.

why are people acting as if they have never seen this type of thing happen before.

Did I get screwed since I bought my PS3 when it was 599? Did I get screwed when I bought my 360 pro at 399? The answer is no! This is the price these things cost when they came out.

This is the price of doing business folks.

Psch. This happens all the time. Game of the Year editions? Platinum/Player's Choice/Greatest Hits? Late ports to other consoles that come with extra features? Not to mention all of the price drops that get thrown around ALL the time for the consoles themselves.

This is reality. When things get old, their price falls, and their creators throw together extra features to give it more lasting value past its prime. It's a fact of life. Less QQ plz.

If I buy a game in 2010...and a bunch of DLC in 2011...I would expect that by 2012 the DLC would drop in price via bundles or limited edition/goty edition/balls on fire edition whatever it may be...if you want something bad enough, youll get it right away, or you can wait a while and get it when it's not valuable anymore.

That applies to EVERYTHING.

I learned my lesson about buying DLC with the first R6 Vegas, so since then, I don't bother with it at least until it is discounted.

I didn't buy any of the Gears 2 DLC as well, so I will be buying the $20 pack. Same with Fallout 3! I wanted to buy it, but they will release a Game of the Year package with everything in it around christmas, so why bother now?

they did the same thing for halo 2 and also gears of war 1 they release the maps then later on they will reduce the price or give it out on a bundle so if you buy it early then they give out a special later on your screwed period. i fourtinately did not buy the maps so i will buy this since i do save more money this way

Brixxer6003808d ago

Unfortunately it's the way everything is , early adoptors will pay top price , be it a new console , game , stereo , ipod , etc , etc , etc.

Halo3 MLG Pro3808d ago

Bubbles for hitting it right on the money.

Bnet3433808d ago

Bubbles up Brix, I was going to say the same thing, but I was willing to bet someone with common sense would of said it. this happens all the time, no need to isolate Gears.

I bought my 360 when released for 270pds, so should i feel shafted that it is now 189pds with 40gigs of extra storage?

That is the price you pay for being an early adopter of any product. You know that extra value will always be obtained down the line but if you have been anticipating the release of the product and can't wait, then you have no right to complain further down the line if you decided to take the plunge.
