Video gaming's favorite simian has always seemed to take his position as king of the jungle a bit for granted. Now, it looks like a few misguided monkeys are here to horn in on DK's turf – and take his precious golden bananas. Donkey Kong's not about to sit idly by while the animal kingdom sinks into chaos, though – he's going to take back the jungle and show those grimy gorillas who's boss!
New Play Control! Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat isn't an entirely new game – it's actually an updated reissue of a 2005 GameCube release. The GameCube game was very well received by critics and gamers alike, but it used a unique controller, the "DK Bongos," that added substantially to the cost of the game and may have turned consumers off. The reissue of the title for the Wii, with new Wii-specific controls and updated level designs, is an attempt to get the game out to a wider audience. (Since portions of the game have been substantially redesigned, the original GameCube DK Bongos peripheral is not compatible with NPC! DK Jungle Beat.)
