Shogun Gamer: The Evolution of Piracy and what it means for the industry

Michael-Sean writes: The first time I realized how bad piracy was, was when I was a tester for Electronic Arts. The game I was working on promised to be quite good, so I asked a friend if he wanted it for Christmas. While I was still working on it he replied. " No, man, its ok, I already have it". I thought: how the hell can you have it if I'm still testing the beta version?

We have all had our individual run-ins with piracy at some level. Maybe it was downloading just to see what it was like, and then you than later went out and bought games... I'm sure... Or, going to a friend's house and asking, "what games you got?". To which the reply was "All of them" (usually happened with Dreamcast).
