$30 million offered for Duke Nukem rights

Fudzilla: So with 3D Realms ending last Friday, much of the insider info regarding the project is starting to leak out. From what we hear, publisher Take-2 Interactive offered $30 million to George Broussard in an effort to acquire the IP rights to the Duke Nukem franchise, although it is unclear if this includes the work that was already completed on Duke Nukem Forever.

Our sources tell us that Broussard turned down the offer to sell the franchise, and instead spoke with several other publishers, including id Software, Epic, Electronic Arts and even Microsoft in an effort to secure additional funding to complete the project.

From what we hear, Duke Nukem Forever is not completed, but we also hear Broussard is continuing to shop for money; but this could prove to be problematic, as Take-2 Interactive does still hold the publishing rights to the game.

labaronx3808d ago

should let the Bioshock team finish the game once Bioshock 2 is complete...

ShabzS3808d ago (Edited 3808d ago )

i doubt it... 2k boston and levine are currently working on some ''secretive and industry defining game''(their words) ... and 2k marin are still polishing bioshock 2... they should give it to some outsiders like epic. on the development side who knows more about the unreal engine than epic themselves huh

The Bioshock team probably couldn't do a Duke game. It's a completely different setting and atmosphere.

II Necroplasm II3808d ago (Edited 3808d ago )

I say give it to id Software. The Quake, Doom and Wolfenstein series experience would help finish the game good.

John Carmack the farther of FPS would take care of Duke Nukem.

Bob Dole3808d ago

Couldn't have said it better... iD knows FPS better than anyone.

Not dead just broke. He needs a new boss to pay him some doe. Duke will return it seems and 30 million offer out there turned down means one of two things. A bigger deal is on the table or I have signed a deal already. Either way Duke will be made. This could be a great sign though. If someone signs a deal in next week or two we could see a surprise announcement at E3.
