Touch-screen success could make mouse, keyboard obsolete

Two fingers can stretch or shrink an image. A single touch opens a program. A flick of a finger scrolls or turns a page.

"My access to everything, from e-mails to texting to music and movies, is now easier because of the touch screen," she says. "It is less time-consuming and more natural."

No, that ain't happening. What will PC gaming become? How will you type your text in Word?

I see touch-screens being made in the future and all but I'm pretty sure the mouse and keyboard will still be there.

I think in time the mouse will be gone, I'm sure there will be a way to make gaming work with touch screen

If titled, i would totally use a touchscreen keyboard (If it has a screen, you could customize it for different game and software and it looks pretty dam awesome). However, i dont think you can really replace the mouse... its just very comfortable to use

Using the mouse we can do a lot with very subtle wrist movements and therefore minimal effort. Touch screens are hard work in comparison, especially with bigger screens.

I admit it - it does feel more natural to physically point at stuff. But that doesn't mean it's going to be easier.

PC gamers will probably continue to use the mouse for everything for the sake of continuity.

I agree.

Though I would like to see what it's like to play an RTS with a touch screen but then again I hate getting fingerprints on my screens lol

Lumbo3817d ago

Yeah, i certainly like my screen being full of fingerprints and smearmarks, absolutely .. *rolleyes*

I HATE people touching my screen at work with their sweaty and smeary fingers, even if they come NEAR the surface i hiss at them -_- cause its a pain in the A to keep a screen clean when every Bob and his uncle leaves his bodyfat on it *shudder*

Oh yeah i can see myself playing FPS games with my fingers blocking my view. Thats soooo funny like the Iphone taking over handheld gaming from ninty and sony.
