Three RPG Makers Make New PS3... RPG

Japanese game makers Idea Factory, Gust and Nippon Ichi Software have teamed up for a new PS3 role-playing-game called Trinity Universe. Trinity, geddit?

The game is a 3D dungeon crawler RPG and features two plot lines: Goddess and Devil King. Gust worked on the scenario for Goddess, while Nippon Ichi did the Devil King scenario.

Kudos to NIS for supporting PS3 RPGs. The great RPGs just keep rolling out. I don't need to cite the greats as it's already been done here.

Look, this gen is starting to look like its going to last longer than anyone thought it would and I think that the WII will be the only one upgraded hardware wise in the next 5 years. The PS3 moving to #1 spot will take time. They priced themselves out of the market and are still in the game and leading in Japan home console wise without a price drop which is amazing and Sony must be laughing. There have not been many exclusive known Rpg franchises on the PS3 yet but there are some great new IPs like VC and Folklore. I am excited that these 3 dev houses are joining forces because they make some nice games. Idea Factory and some of their recent PSP debacles have me woried but the other dev houses should keep them in line.

If so I really hope a price cut in games, 60$/game is way too much. Look at VC, sales spiked as soon it got a good price drop. I think 45$ is more reasonable, of course this is just wishful thinking, publishers just feel pretty comfortable raping gamers wallet.

well.. Cross Edge left Japan, and i NEVER expected it to ever set foot outside considering how Japan-centric it is.. but it did, and this game is also a Cross Eque-esque collaboration so it will probably make it's way out

i'd much prefer Demon Souls and WKC though

I really like rpg's like Shadow Hearts and Final Fantasy's; I'm not so sure if I would like this. Maybe I missed it in the article, but will this be anything like Disgaea?

I agree I wish it was Ar Tonelico 3 as well. AT1 was in 2006 (JPN) AT2 was in 2007 (JPN), so it should be coming soon if it stays consistent.
